Using stock crank pulley
Ok i decided to go with a stock pulley vs. a lightweight crank pulley. Anyway someone told me to just take it to a machine shop and get the part for the power steering belt cut off. But the problem with that is now for the bolt to seat it will have to go in another little bit and the threads only go so far. What bolt can i use ?
has it been proven that lightweight crank pulleys are not safe ? i know this is a huge debate, ive heard all types of answers.
yes, the laws of physics prove that they are not safe, that and plenty of people w/ broken cranks and oil pumps. sometimes people get lucky, but thats all it is LUCK relating to how people run their motors. stick w/ your stock damper or if you drasticaly modify your engines internals go w/ an ATI period. and dont worry about the extra 1 whp you MAY have gained w/ a lightweight pulley, unless you just want a cool looking pulley that doesnt dampen your engines harmonics.

Machining off the outer pulley will not effect how it bolts up. I don't think it's really worth the work unless you wanted to run an ATI like missing gears mentioned.

Or just paint it.
Or just paint it.
if you were only using the alt. belt and had no power steering or a/c which pulley would work for this? i have heard the euro type R pulley is a single belt pulley. is this the only option? i don't have enough room to use the stock h22 pulley in the car and don't want to hack the original one up. whats an ati?
