All motor LS questions
i have a few questions on building a LS All motor . I want to try to build a Semi-fast LS because not a lot of people do it. So far my best time is a 9.7@72.43 1/8th mile and 14.7304@94.76 1/4 mile. Heres a list of mods i already have
1992 LS Teg
JDM freshly Rebuilt B18A (1425 miles)
Skunk2 catback exhaust
Catco Highflow cat ( Replacing next week with a Megan Test Pipe)
DC stainless exhaust manifold
Aem Cai
Blox IM
Shaved Head
Mr.Gasket Copper head gasket
JDM XSI trans
Exedy stage 1 clutch
ACT flywheel ( replacing with ITR this weekend)
What do you think my WHP is now , stock at the flywheel the JDM version is supposed to 142hp/126tq , i would think stock is somewhere around 122/110 , i would think with i/h/e/im and a shaved head im around 140-145 whp and 120 wtq.
In the next two weeks im ordering crower 403"s with crower valve train, with all of the above mentiones and the cams could i be in the 150-160 whp range? and would have the head ported and polished even benefit me enough to be worth it? like maybe 160-175 whp if i port the head to.
Also i was thinking of adding pistons , either ITR pistons or p30 pistons , what oem DOHC VTEC would be the best choice? I was thinking of doing a LS/VTEC because i have a head sitting in my garage from a previous car i used to own , its a pr3 b16 head , ported/itr cams/itr/valve train/aem cam gears/type-r valves, and a place called import power house here in phx said theyd charge me 1k to do the job. However i just got this JDM engine fully rebuilt , and i need my car to be reliable so i doubt ill do it , probably just sell the head and use the money to parts to build my current motor.
Basically with the mods that i already have in it above , and crower 403"s tuned with a set of camgears , is 155-160 whp out of the question because thats what im shooting for. then down the line in maybe 6 months porting and polishing the head. Also if im running 14.7 with just the mods i have now , is 14.0 achievable after adding the cams. Thanks.
PS. Anyone know of a good chip for a LS app?
