Default Starting my all motor H22a EG...

I am just starting my build toward an all motor H22a EG- What are the first steps i should take in building this all motor H22A? Is was planning on going and buying some cams this weekend... are Skunk 2 cams good for all motor? What other cams, if those are not good? I also saw the RMF header, i heard that thing is really good..?? Please help me on this build... a was going to boost it, but i really like all motor cars...also, how much power can i expect to get out of this thing.? I am also taking this motor out this summer to biuld the block.. any suggestions? Thanks for the help guys!

You should really do some research before buying things so soon. Skunk2 is good for NA. RMF is one of the best. look also into Hytech, SMSP. Check the H2B option.

Ya i was going to check out the H2B kit. I heard that i should use a GSR tranny for street racing, and if i was going to do more strip- the use i B16 tranny....what do you think? Also, where is a good place to buy the H2B conversion plate thing from? I also heard that you have to do some mods around the engine bay....is this correct?

One more thing, should i go with stage 2 or 3 camshafts for a daily driver?? I will be upgrading the valves and springs too, but which are the best for power?? What is preferable, a 5-way valve grind or 3- way?

And the gsr trans will be excellent for either dd or drag. If you plan on going the h2b route IMHO is better than straight h22 swap.

street racing...lol

The b16 trans has better ratios....period. A few extra cruising rpms isn't going to kill your MPG as bad as you think....I have a 4.71FD and I didn't notice any extra gas being used around town...highway its a little more noticeable.....

Just on a side note: I drive an h22 on crower3 cams every day, and I have zero driveability issues.....

Hey bb4ever- how do you like your crower3 cams? Are you happy with them....how do they compare to skunk2 stage 2 and 3... what all did you upgrade as far a valves and springs?? And do you have the H2B? I have had my H22a for one year now, so it is time start building this thing..... thanks for the help!

crower3 cams are nice, they don't do a whole lot with stock compression due to the fact that they're big duration, and leak a lot of dynamic compression out

After tuning, we were able to keep them to where we lost no power in the midrange, and of course gained a good bit above 7k rpm. With a higher CR, like you would do if you're gonna build the block, they'd make good numbers.

stock valves, eibach valvesprings, crower cromoly retainers

I drive a prelude....no h2b here...

OK, so say that i get some skunk 2 stage 3 pro series, they say that u need to upgrade.... do i need to upgrade everything right away...or just valves and springs right away?? Also- i am going to order an RMF header, is the skunk 2 intake mani a good choice or is there on out there that makes a reputable number increase?

Another thing, right now i am running an S2000 muffler for increased airlfow without the loud noise of a loud slow single vtec.... I was thinking about picking up a spoon exhaust on friday.....is this a good choice for all motor.... do you know what these sound like? I want something quiet with a little groul to it- but not too loud, just to sound kinda mean! Any suggestions?

Also, should i just get all head components through skunk2, or is there another company out there that you all know of that is worht getting?

start with some minor head bolt ons, cams, manifold, and some good tuning and when the income becomes nice go for the high compression block and some very good head porting with a good header RMF (we have the same one on our car) and you should be around 240-260WHP with some good tuning, depending on which h22 you have, if its SIR or TYPE S. goodluck!
