Honda S2000 Testimonials
Hello everyone I'm new to the forums and here is whats going on. I'm looking to buy a S2000 because I want a converible to cruise in and the S2K is a eye catcher so I chose it. I'm 19 my parents are willing to sign on a car with me but they don't know very much about these cars. So if you would post your feelings about these cars and why you love yours so much.
If I bought this car when I was 19, I'd be broke as hell. Insurance and payment requires an income in itself; you also gotta think about mods. Wait, lease, or buy outright.
Well I have it broken down like this. Im looking at a 01, its black with 37k on it. For $17k. I have 6 thousand saved to put down and I will have another 5 grand when my current car sells. I would not be financing more than 7k.
Not yet but I'm sure it will be far less than the RX-7 we almost got. It wont be all under my name it will be under my parents name and I will just be an added driver.

The funny thing is, I was never really into S2Ks until my friend Jeff let me be his passenger ONE TIME.
The moment I got into the car, I knew I had to have it. It took my one month to finally get one. I actually came across 2 amazing deals in the same week but the one car was a lemon and the other one...well she's mine now and that's all that matters.
Just be careful of insurance. Being 19 doesn't exactly help you and being a male. Good luck!

you might be better off in a z4. The s2000 is really a driver's car and offers very few frills (no power or heated seats, dimming mirrors, stereo is kinda weak, interior is bland with its fake aluminum, engine is kinda peaky, etc). Its kinda cramped too. Im 5'11 205 lbs and im not too comfortable in it and if it wasnt so much fun to drive I would probably hate it.

ouch. whats with all the exclamation marks? Even if i had an 04-05-06-07, the payments wouldnt work out to anywhere NEAR $1300. an 05 is worth roughly 23k-24k with low miles around these parts. I figure, you talk them down to a reasonable extent, get it out the door for about 24500. I would leave a ginormous down payment (which is probably why my payments are low come to think of it). Even if i couldnt leave a ginormous amount down...lets say i leave $2500. A reasonable amount. That would probably put me around the $500 a month range for payments...and about 100 a month for insurance. still NOWHERE NEAR $1300. I bought my 00 a while ago for $20500 out the door and left a $7500 down payment.
Now about the car. Im pretty sure the S2000 is one of the finest automobiles in the whole world. Before i drove one, i figured the most fun you could ever have in a car with your pants on was in a miata. Because with your pants off, it would be awkward, and the shifter and e-brake would TOTALLY be in the way. I fell in love with the S2000 the moment i drove it and i couldnt really picture myself driving anything else. The first weekend I had it, I took it to road america and i was pretty surprised. EVOs and C5s and S4s were faster down the straightaways, but I reeled them in and if I got the chance to pass them, I would blast thru the next series of curves and leave them all in the dust BONE STOCK. When you get it back into town, you remember its still a honda. Great gas mileage, and reliability, along with excellent fit and finish of interior and exterior panels. It's more of a driver's car than almost anything on the road. It's kind of like a budget Lotus Elise, with really none of the drawbacks, and even some advantages (9000 RPM redline
, powertop convertible, standard A/C and ABS, not to mention way lower price).

Understood. Well...Im 21. My GSR and my S2K put together are about $1200 a year. Fully covered. I dont think they're that expensive really. I think the guy should get quotes on everything before he commits. But I really dont think that $1300 a month is reasonable.
Well tomorrow is the big day, I'm going to check out a 2000 S2K with 37,000 miles, they are asking 16.5 for it. If it drives as good as it looks (and like everyone says) I'll be posting pictures soon

Wow, we went to look and it went terrible. Our seller was a bitch about the car. Wouldn't take me for a drive or anything. Refused to retract the roof. Amazing. So screw that. On to the next one...tell me what you think the actual asking price is 17k. http://www.websitesfordealers....10709
