what do you think is the best "workin' man's" tire for a stock accord or- other compact / midsize for that matter. I have my opinion but like to here yours.

i got lexingtons last time i went to townfair tire.

they suck. they wore down really fast, and i got a flat tire about 6-7 times because of weak side walls. i even had a BELT break on the highway causing me almost to swearve off the road.

im also looking for new tires.

The best value will come from the company's name that you never even heard before..... that's right... those are a great value.... soft like a eraser.... will be gone in less than 10 months....

When you go get your new tires, ask for cheapest tire with a hard coumpound rubber, which means "long lasting"..... that's what I would call "best value".....

^what he said. I get tires off ebay with 9/32 of thread for the same cost of the cheap ones. $130 for two coopers with 8/32 thread shipped, mounted, balanced, and old tires thrown out.

EDIT: Damnit, I hate when people post before me. I was talking about...

why buy used tires??????

They're pretty important to how your car handles etc. Spend the money and don't skimp out

Because they are about half the cost and 90% of the value. I've ordered so many tires from the guy I buy them from and have never gotten a bad tire.

And that's what I got. $130 for slightly used with nothing wrong or $180 at Wal-mart for decent brand, you pick. Just look on tire rack.

I've had Douglas, which is rebranded Goodyear, on my accord for awhile and they show little to no camber wear.

I've got Traction T/A's (Michelin I think?) on my other set of alloys which hold up as well.

check out edgeracing or tirerack for some good deals

Yokohama Avid T4s. I ordered them online for pretty damn cheap and they are great. I have no complaints and are lasting well so far with about 3000 or more miles on it. Yokohamas seem to have a pretty good name. All the michelin and really well known brand tires often suck so be picky about which tire you gett from them. Read reviews.

The free shipping is what makes this a steal.

I rock goodyear tripletreads, I love them and they are prorated to 80k. So far I've been happy, I really don't even out drive them in the snow which is nice knowing there is a little more than I use, just in case.

If you are going stock, I've had great luck with 'mohawk' brand tires.

Dunlop and Kumho are 2 brands that I have had tires from that I felt gave me a good quality tire for the price.

Yea I'm about to put Kuhmo ASX's on my daily driver accord. I looked at some of those used tires on Ebay (Allentown Tire) but I re-thought that plan after a while.

I think damn near everyone will give a different answer, depending on their definition of value, driving habits, etc.

I'm particularly fond of the Yokohama Avid H4s that are on my car right now. Amazing traction for an all-season tire, quiet ride, and great wear.

Yeah, I think Yokohamas are good in general. A great price value for quality tires. They don't jack their price up like ******** from michelin and goodyear.. because they aren't a huge name.
Pirelli are good also.. but expensive ..
I would go for the T4s that I have though if your looking for a better price value...
THe H4s are 8$ more per tire..

canadian? hmm, as soon as i got some money and legal min. treads left on my dunlop sp sport A2's im lookin at gettin those falken ziex ze512's theyre rated really good by consumer reports, but ive heard that they made them shittily, like out of round, but that was a good time agoo, i was quoted, for those in size 205(or maybe it was 215)/60/15 all four, mounted, balanced, disposal of old tires, road hazard **** and free lifetime rotations out the door for 309 at my local tire place

the trick is, if u get those falkens, not to get them in lower than a 60 profile, cuz those use a differnt compound or something and get half the mileage warrany and less treadlife rating

A lot of tire manufacturers do that at various profile ratios.

For a daily driver made for all weather at a decent price I have always thought the BF Goodrich Traction T/A were a great value. I've owned a few sets on a few different cars and they are no autocross monster but work great for regular use.
