lsvtec or turbo b16
I have a 90 CRX, it came with a bad b16. so I put an LS with b16 tranny in it. I am getting a good tax return and wanting to start a build. I am lost...or not sure what would be better for a quick dd. Some advice on parts would help also. I was thinking about sticking the b16 head on for a while and build the b16 block? Would the b18 block be better to build or the b16 block? the b16 that was in the car had the #1 piston cooked do to 17psi and no tuning ie stock fuel and spark. I got the car for $500.00 and the ls was given to me. If you could kinda tell me why your choice is better that would help out. I came from about 4 years of building DSMs to hondas so I am not up to par on what is good and what is not with the hondas. Thanks allot.
thought that I should change the title...better fits what I am asking.

Well I have my mind set on turbo b16. I am waiting on ROSS 8:5.1 pistons and eagle rods. Not sure on cams yet. I have stock ones and GRS cams but not sure if they are going to hold up to 16-20psi. Let me know.

yea you can use CTR/ITR cams but it would be better if you save up a lil more money and go ls/vtec turbo you will be more satisfied

Building the bottom end for the b18 is gonna be the same $ amount as the b16 and will give more HP and torque. I wouldn't waste the time building the b16 unless your going for somthing to rev to 15 million rpm. LS/VTEC can be just as reliable as any other motor if done right.
ok allot of people say lsvtec...so how much more HP and TQ is in the ls vs b16? One reason I am wanting to do the b16 is because it is out of my car and I can't really have down time one my car. So if someone can show me numbers of hp and tq lsvtec vs b18 that would be great

sounds about right. The b16 can rev all day, but it doesnt make much low end power. The longer stroke of the LS gives it better tq all day long. If you got a GSR block use an ls crank to yield more tq as well.

No, you need an iron block like a good old Chevy 305 holds your letters to Santa down better.
the 305 is a real paper weight, I had my home work under a b16 the wind blew shook the motor and it fell over my papers flew out the window and I failed my Latin test.
B16s arn't even good paperweights.
