Default Squeeks from Rear Hatch Area

My 1990 Crx is driving me nuts. I keep hearing squeeks from the rear hatch area when driving. Its really annoying me. Anyone have tips on how to get rid of this noise??? pics appreciated as well.

Thanks a Million!

I have a 91 Hatch STD. It does the same thing. Sounds like it could be the hatch itself, like the rubber seals or something. Just turn up the music louder!

There are screwed in (adjustable)rubber stops on the bottom corners of your hatch. Just unscrew them a little more.

Lube the rubber weather gaskets and the bump stops with Shinitsu grease. Lube the latch with this grease also. Shinitsu can be purchased at your honda dealer. It rules and I garentee that this will solve your problems as well as refreshing your weather seals. This grease is recomended by honda to use on all the rubber seals on the S2000 covertible roof.

While you're at it, lube the weather seals on your doors too. Some misc. noises can be quieted down by doing this.

Another unrelated source of squeak from the rear is the rear trailing arm bushing. It will squeak under deformation and honda recomends using a silicone grease on these. Do not use petrolium jelly as this will actually eat the rubber. If you haven't replaced these bushings and you care about handling, you might consider the mugen replacements or the OEM replacements. They are the same product and are about the same price.

Wrap the striker (silver metal loop) on your hatch with some electrical tape. Should tighten things up enough that it takes away all squeaks for a while.
