Default Shocks are junk - need suggestions on what to get (96 Accord LX)

First off I'll say that I have ~$400-500. I'd like to be able to adjust height from nearly stock-2in drop. I know nothing about spring rates, so it would be hard for me to buy shocks/springs seperately. It's a street car, but I have no problem with a rougher ride; rough, not bouncy. Thanks

assuming you want new, not a used set up, I would suggest KYB GR2's and ground control sleeve overs. a lil stiffer, and pretty cheap. $500 doesnt get you much, unless you throw away adjustability.

Yeah, I would only want used if I knew it would last. I'm looking at these KYB struts (which are adjustable): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW but I don't know what springs to get. I would be fine with about a 1.5" drop if I didn't have to buy any camber parts,. Which is probably not happening.

I would suggest the kyb's and Eibach pro Kit. They are affordable, and a decent set up for the price.

Would I need any camber gear or just a regular alignment?

Regular alignment for anything under a 2 inch drop. Im pretty sure no matter how you alter the vehicles height the camber/toe will never get to be back to perfect oem requirements. Mines dropped like 2-2.5 inches and i just get it aligned regularly, i wear tires a little quicker but its not that bad.

Good luck, I also run Tein S-Tech, and KYB GR-2. Not adjustable.

How often do you get it aligned? Will a Honda dealership still do it?

Will KYB AGX Struts work will stock springs? I think I want to wait until spring before I drop it and worry about the alignment?

I'd go Tokico HP/H&R. I used H&R Sport, wish I used H&R OE Sport. I'm lowered about 1.25-1.50 inches.

Tokico HP's are fine with OE Springs too.

And don't pay Honda for alignment. It's cheaper to go to a tire shop. Honda is around $70 and the average tire shop is $50.

I've ran Tokico SHocks/H&R Springs on all 7 Honda's I've owned and never disappointed.

What kind of warranty do they have? The KYB's are lifetime and they are adjustable.

Directly from Tokico...... A: TOKICO offers a limited lifetime warranty for all of our suspension products purchased for street use. Products used or designed for competition are not covered under warranty.

I remember reading the HP's used to be cover for lowering up 1.5 inches as-well, but I didn't find that on their site.

I get mine aligned like once a year. Or if I feel it start to pull to one direction. Honda still does mine, they complain everytime though, but they have detailed papers for every type of camber/toe and such. Im not sure if other tire shops do, Im sure they do, But I trust honda.

I personaly have tenzo r springs, 2.25 drop, yet are worn out, and bottoms out the suspension over most pot holes, and is realy bouncy on the freeway, plan to replace thouse, with skunk 2 coilovers. as far as shocks I have kyb gr2s, not sure if there shot, or if the springs just make it feel that way, because I just put those shocks on 6 months ago. I'll see hear soon though. if they are shot going with ticko luminas.
