1) 2003-2005
2) v6 and L4 avaliable in both, same engines for the years
3) I personally dont know of any recalls, and I check on onine Mitchell resource at work, and it showed no recalls or TSB's as of yet.
4) There are lots of parts avaliable for the 7th gen
5) Low KM's, maintaince records, body condition, and Personally, I dont buy cars that are previously modified by owner.
6) There arent as many mods for v6 as there are for the L4. The parts are almost the same as the rsx-s, with the exception of some internals.

There was a recall on the V6 auto trannys, but I have 41,000 miles on mine now, and the tranny seems to be holding out fine so far. I think the recall did the trick. If you are going to get the 6speed, it won't matter anyway. The engine has plenty of power, and I have not had any problems with it. The V6 gets great mileage on the highway, and not too bad around town either.
i have an 03 accord v6 auto. trans just went on me at 77k. i love this car and this is the only problem with it. honda is taking care of my trans thank god. the recall was on the 97-04 v6 auto accord. its a great car and freakin comfortable

1. what is the years for that generation? i know it begins at 2003
2003 - Present
2. are there any differences in the engine those years of that generation?
V6 manual coupe was the first to get a dual stage intake and the rest of the V6 got it in 06 model year
3. are there any recalls or defects i should know about like with the transmission or engine etc?
No engine defects but the auto trans still is not as reliable as it SHOULD be
4. how is teh selection of aftermarket parts on this car?
V6, if you want Super Charger or turbo, it looks like custom is the way to go. Headers are out since the exhaust collectors are cast into the cylander heads. I4- see the other K motors
5. and is there anything i should look for when buying this car that would show that it is a "lemon" or not a "good one"?.
Problem areas on this car headliner noise, craptastic brakes, head unit back lighting goes out, noisey sunroof
6. how do aftermarket parts respond to the engine, like basic bolt ons?

Carfax the car before you buy, if its a used car. Its better to know because you will find alot of information of its previous owner or what has happened to the vehicle. I carfaxed mines. Showed good stats.
