I need some help with my CRX dieting program...
Well, I am going to be building my CRX to run in the spfwd class, and really need to shed some weight. It is extreemly porky for a CRX...lol.
Last year my 91 DX weighed in at about 2350 with me in it (I weigh 180).
However, the new changes that are going to be adding weight:
-10pt mild steel cage
-rear disk conversion
What I was thinking:
- remove the rubber coating from the interior
- remove the stock door mounted seatbelts (those have to weigh a ton).
- remove the head unit/speakers and the wiring.
I'm not sure if theres anything else I can do. I don't really want to remove the undercoating though since this will still be driven on the street.
TIA,
Bryson

why are you getting disc brakes? you dont need them..
yeah the seatbelts and the frame in door do weight alot..rip all that **** out and run some racing harness/seatbelts..
the glass in the back hatch,if you replace with lexan it will be much lighter..you could also think about a carbon fiber hatch with the lexan..
the rear 1/4 glass ,,put some lexan there.
fiberglass or carbon hood..
the headunit and speakers dont really weight much..
the interior doesnt really weight much..its really light plastic anyway..
the front and rear bumper supports weight alot.
stock seats are pretty heavy..
dashboard doesnt weight much..but the **** behind it does.
stock size battery is heavy as hell..get one of those little nrg batterys.
use lightweight wheels for when you drag race..
also i dont know if they still make them now,but back in the day you could get some fiberglass doors.

- Because I already have them, and I hate servicing drums.
yeah the seatbelts and the frame in door do weight alot..rip all that **** out and run some racing harness/seatbelts..
- check.
the glass in the back hatch,if you replace with lexan it will be much lighter..you could also think about a carbon fiber hatch with the lexan..
- spfwd requires the factory glass.
the rear 1/4 glass ,,put some lexan there.
- again, factory glass remains.
fiberglass or carbon hood..
- VIS CF SIR hood.
the headunit and speakers dont really weight much..
- Check.
the interior doesnt really weight much..its really light plastic anyway..
- All plastics removed except for the dash, shift column, and door panels
the front and rear bumper supports weight alot.
- removed already.
stock seats are pretty heavy..
- dual sparco fighter2's.
dashboard doesnt weight much..but the **** behind it does.
- I don't know what you can remove behind the dash. A/C stuff is already removed
stock size battery is heavy as hell..get one of those little nrg batterys.
- I have the stock battery in front of the passenger side tire to keep weight balanced, and on the front tires (Tony1 style).
use lightweight wheels for when you drag race..
- Lenso's up front. Not sure on the back yet.
also i dont know if they still make them now,but back in the day you could get some fiberglass doors.
- Also not legal for SPFWD.
