Default Question about keys

I have an '03 accord v-6.

The black case on the key is cracked where the key comes out. The dealer told me I need to buy a whole new key (like $95) even though the buttons still work. Is that right?

I noticed the cracked plastic because the metal key part was moving around. It looks like a tiny screw is still in there but the plastic still separates.

see if you cant buy it online at hondaautomotiveparts.com and program it yourself. I saved myself $50 by doing that with my key fob when it needed to be replaced. Damn stealerships.
