Where to rebuild a Type R......help!
My cousins 98 CW Type R was stolen back in november in Chicago when he came to visit during Thanksgiving break. His private insurance company is starting to talk now and giving him the option of totaling it or rebuilding it. He really wants to have the car rebuilt but has no clue who can bring it back to life. The insurance company suggested a dealer but the price was rediculous. A big chunk of the money is comming out of cousins pocket if rebuilt option is chosen. Does any one have experience on who can rebuild Type R's. If my cousin cant find a decent place to build his car it will be totaled. By the way almost everything was stripped besides the tach. My family is not having a good time with our hondas. Freakin Chicago and theives!!!!!! they all need to die. lol

No one I know actually does rebuilding for other people. Everyone do their own due to the fact that a lot of type r parts are hard to find and very expensive. I would say for your cousin to keep the car and hit up all of the honda forums you find on the net and rebuild his r himself, he'd learn a lot. Most forums are very informative and helpful. You should be able to find all the parts.

If your cousin can read, he should be able to turn a wrench. All depends on how much time he has on his hands and willingness to learn

get the manual for the car, get the parts from len awsome cheap serive, turn in all the parts that need to be pruchased to your insurance company. they should talk and see what they can do for you. take it mind to just get the car up and running complete dash, engine bay, abs, and suspension(if stolen) the rest can be easily purchased through out his over all rebuild.
Rebuild it himself if he has the mechanical aptitude. That way the labor is free when giving the insurance company an estimate. Used parts can be had on Honda / ITRCA forums. Definitely check with Baranco Acura for any new parts that need to be purchased. Best prices of any Acura dealer in the US!
If the insurance co. does end up totaling the caR, find out the buy back price. Even if your cousin doesn't want to buy it back for himself, I know there are a bunch of people here who'd like to find an ITR shell for a rebuild project. Keeps heR in the family
