i searched and only found the typical ive seen it,
does anyone have any expirience with any of rilands welders
the 160 lookes pretty decent with a digital display, and more power with tig and plasma than a smily and it comes with a foot pedal
taxes are coming soon and im looking for a decent tig under 1000 to learn on
any help is appreciated

I'd buy one.
I'm trying to talk a friend into buying tht exact one before I jump in and buy. I have an old school ac/dc tig but I could really use a plasma and an all in one inverter would be sweet.

One of the first US distributors is a guy named Jack (Shorts). You can find him on the hobart forums sometimes, or http://z14.invisionfree.com/We...t=idx

Pretty nice 52yo guy. Hell he's even on AIM sometimes...
The big thing is to make sure you buy a real riland & not a cheaper knock-off & that it comes from a real distributor.

I wouldn't. I have something similar. The overall product is mediocre. Pedal came from the factory not working because it wasn't wired correctly. I had a contact direct with the company and they never took care of it. When I get some time this summer I'm going to need to make an overly complicated electronics rig so I can figure out which wire goes where so the foot pedal will actually work.
Also, Smiley is not a brand. They are all the same welders. Riland, Mitec, Smiley, Chiry, Taylor, or any other brand you can find are all the same.....
