its down to these two springs for bc3's. which one is recommended and would put less wear on my cam lobes... and can i use stock factory retainers with it.

my opinion is just my opinion but i went with supertech v.s. and stock ret. in my 97 gsr with bc3 cams. So far about 4k miles, no significant signs of wear on the cam lobes. But i haven't looked at the bottom of a retainer yet. I bought supertech just cause a few of my friends have similar setups, bc3 and bc4 in b18c's with thousands of miles on them, no problems yet.

I run full OMNI valvetrain in my 2 liter, same valvetrain as was in the 1.8, with some pretty big cams, theyve probably had about 100 dyno pulls on them, and over 20k on the street.

yea, I second omni on this one, over 30k miles with bc3+ for about 15k and then s2p2 for over 15k... Checked out all of the retainers the other day when I replaced my valve seals and they are still in brand new condition. The only set of springs and retainers that I would recommend over them is s2pro series because of the short retainer allows for slightly larger cams...

dont know, but my guess is no. The springs and retainers need to snap together in order to keep wear down.

do a search for crower cromoly retainers, there's a recent thread on this, showing several builds with aftermarket springs and cromoly retainers. Several build running supertech and rocket motorsports v.s. and crower cromoly retainers are mentioned.

Supertech all the way... We use them in our race cars and we are very happy with their performance...
