1991 Acura Integra GS clutch problems - NEED ADVICE!
I have a 1991 Acura Integra GS three door hatchback model, and I have been recently experiencing clutch problems. I bought the car in July of 2006. Last week, I was driving my car and suddenly the clutch pedal had absolutley no pressure and the engine began racing, and unable to stay in the higher gears. In addition, changing gears was incredibly difficult. My mechanic came and got it, and then informed me the following Wednesday that the clutch was completely worn out and needed to be replaced. He finished the work by the next day and we went to pick it up. When I got in to drive it, the clutch pedal felt totally different. Before, it had a lot of pressure, powerful shifting power- the pedal would practically push the pedal up for you. But the new clutch felt flimsy - I had a lot of trouble getting used to it - something didn't feel right. The very next morning, not even twentey four hours later, I got into the car to pick up my boyfriend, pushed the pedal down and I heard a loud snap. The clutch pedal would no longer lift from the floor, and once again, the car would not go into gear. I called my mechanic immediately and he came to get the car, saying that the clutch kit was faulty because they could not see anything wrong with the cable. Could he have put the wrong type of clutch in? What does a pop like that indicate? I'm feeling pretty helpless, I love this car. What could be wrong? Please help
