Default How do you report a dealer to Honda?

I've pretty much taken all I can from Tom Kadlec honda, the dealer I've spent nearly $80,000 at since 2000. These people are the biggest liars and cheats I've ever dealt with.

As you may or may not (mos tlikely not) know, I'm in the process of trading in my LX for an SI.

Today they started giving me bogus charges that would lower the trade-in of my LX. Galaxy grey..

-200 off because of the color (fine, the color sucks anyways I guess).

-250 off - the bottom of the bumper (not even the bumper, the black plastic strip running underneath it) is scuffed up. Are you kidding? Could that part cost more that $50? It's just a plastic strip.

-150 off - interior is all scuffed up.. There are a few scuffs on the floor where people get in. Big deal

Then they had a whole bunch of 50-75 dollar things that were wrong with it. Bottom line - $11,700 and change for an LX I paid $18,100 4,900ish miles ago.

So then I just ignored it and decided I would keep the car for my wife or nephew, anyone who needed it.

So we start talking about the used SI they have on the lot. There price is high considering it has ~26k miles on it. It's completely stock, and I MUCH prefer the look of an SI with the Aero kit on it. So I ask how much it would cost to add the body kit. There response? It can't be done since the car has already been used. I asked him how he could possibly explain that, so he goes to talk to his boss. He comes back and says they only do that for new cars on the lot.. but for an extra $1500 on top of the normal price of kit/installation they will install it.

At this point I told the guy to forget about the sale because I was sick of being jerked around, and the guy commented these were "Honda policies" and would be the same everywhere else.

So did I make a fool of myself for walking out? I can't IMAGINE it would be Body kit + installation + $1500 to put a bodykit on a used car.

Not only that, the pitiful offer on my car was insulting.

That's pretty f'ed up. I too have had some really shady dealers that I've reported. You were definitely not wrong for walking out. Have you found another dealer?

Its a fact that every dealer out there will try and hose you on trades...you are better off trying to sell the car privately then trading it to a dealer. I would guess that you could get around 15,000 for the car if you went through something like autorader, but you'll never get that from a dealer. My parents just traded an '97 Audi A6 to a dealer and they only go like 5000, life sucks like that.

If you do want to get an SI then sell your car yourself, then go buy the SI...otherwise suck it up and like with the LX.

Used Si or new Si, it's the same damn car. It's not like they have to modify the lips and skirts. That $1500 charge is bogus because anybody can walk into the parts department and order the HFP kit.

I work at a used car dealership, small scuffs like you say, we wouldn't need to deduct value. On the other hand, if there were many dings or dents (which you don't have) then there's a deduction in value.

Go find a better dealership.

Exactly. It's not like something changed dramatically after the car was sold that would require extra money for the kit.

ANd I realize dealers screw you on the trade ins. But when I bought the car, I bought it with the thought of knowing Civics retain their value greatly. Losing that much money on it in that short of time just isn't realistic.

It's much more worth your while to spend the extra effort selling it privately. I got my LX coupe for 16,700 OTD, and last sunday I was reading the newspaper and there was one same, color and everything, as mine with 19k miles on it going for 16,500. I'm assuming you can get something around that for yours. Put it in both autotrader and Craigslist and put a for sale sign on it and you should be golden

Pardon my language but that dealer is neck-high FULL OF ****! You did the right thing walking out. That has to be one of the biggest rips on a trade that i've ever heard of.

You did the right thing buddy. The prices WILL NOT be the same everywhere else. That's just another gimmick they use to try to trap you into buying from them. If the Si sells as fast as they say it does it would have been SOLD AREADY.

And the price of adding the kit is just outrageous. They can put it on used cars just as easily as new ones. Doesn't make a difference.

Call Honda Corporate and report their *** and give the name of the salesman or sales manager that you spoke to as well.

When I traded in my EX for the SI, my trade in value was 16,500. This is with 10,900 miles on it, no dings scuffs etc.

You can report them but dealers are independ. owned and nothing honda can do to MAKE them....fix or do things.
but bad reviews/reports does keep them from earning "awards" which alot of dealers need to maintain etc

Accordselux..

Could you comment on the quality of the dealership? I'm just concerned about how they've honored your warranty thus far, the deal you got on the car, etc.

Tom Kadlec has jerked me around from almost a 2k markup on the car.. too charging me on a warranty-repair that i didn't ask for.. and now to this. I can't take it anymore!

Thanks for any additional response.

I didn't buy a car there, but i've always been treated very well when i've been there for service. Several dealerships treat me horribly based on my age or my car and I haven't gotten that from this one. I'm 21 in a month, and they've treated me like a buying customer each time i've been there. Basically they've respected me, and since i'm shopping for cars, they're my choice when I do buy a new one based on my treatment. The building itself is designed well, and the inside is nicely decorated, like some Acura dealerships i've been in. They gave me a rough estimate of my car's value for trade in and I didn't expect much but they were reasonable in their offer.

Default My LX looks even worse now =(

My wife brought in the LX last night to put snowtires on because the car was sliding all around the road. I assumed they were just going to put the same hub-caps on the snowtire, but then the mechanic delighted me by telling me that the price of the tires included rims.

Yay for me, because I was sick of he hub-caps. I picked up the car today and they are horrible! They look exactly like my old hub-caps do.. if the hub-caps fell off and that black metal plate was showing. Even worse, they are "rims", so you can't put the hub-caps over them. So now it looks like I'm too cheap to even buy hub-caps for my car =/ And I'm still trying to get it traded in for possibly a new SI, so I don't really wanna go spend $$ on new rims for nothing.

On the other hand though, Blizzak tires

I'm not blaming the dealer for the last thing I posted, it's just annoying.

Everything else has been legit

Dude, they don't make alloy wheels ("rims") that look exactly like steelies, you most likely just got a new set of steelies with the tires. If so, all you need to do is figure out what hubcaps fit and go put a new set of them on. I vote for chrome dubcaps with spinners.

Jon

PS: The black steelie/no hubcap look rules!!! All the ricers in my city put those on the front, and huge 19' alloys on the back......mad tyte JDM y0!!

That's not exactly true....the dealerships may be independent franchises, however, the product they move still comes from Honda. People say Honda can't do anything about dealerships because Honda Motorcompany doesn't own them. Not true. I know first hand from dealing with the higher ups at Honda.

Now the likelyhood of Honda actually doing something, is very rare and that's another story.
