A while back, a friend of mine rented a VW Touareg. I noticed it had this cool lil flashlight that plugged into the cigarette lighter assembly. So I looked around and found out it was called a mini "torch". I put one of these in my STi and it fit fine. However, when i tried putting one into the Lude, the cigarette lighter assembly was too large to fit. So i found someone parting out a wrecked WRX and bought the ligher housing assembly from him for $10. So i took apart the stock one and hooked up the WRX one. Now it fits!! Sorry i didnt do a writeup but installation was rather trivial. Just remove the stock one and install the WRX one. :bigthumb:




And heres the "torch" that Im talking about....


The torches recharge each time you plug them into the assembly. If you search around, you can buy one of these torches new for about $20.

 

very nice to have, I'm tired of trying to light stuff up in the dark with my cellphone. maybe I'll try this out.

i agree...theres not enough lights in the 4th gens. the dome light just aint enough. im gonna try n retrofit an hid to my dome light...where u at prelude1897

yes thats a 4th gen...it might even fit in a 5th gen without having to mod the lighter assembly...

 

raw, FYI, there is a Map Light you can get from honda that came in the later 4g vtecs....

yea i have the Map light that goes in between the visors...but the torch is portable and comes in handy, esp at night...

 

it's cool i guess...but it says VW on it.

yea its on the back and barely even noticeable...i had to take that picture at the right angle in order for you to see the light engraving...

I have led bulb in my dome light and that sucker is bright

 

does the ring around the lighter still light up green?

 

had anyone tried to put 97-01 dome light assembly on 92-96. basicly 5 gen dome light into 4 gen preludes cuz 4 gen doesnt have that much light inside? if anyone did it have any pictures or write up

if you hooked it up correctly, it should still light up...i know mine does....


there seems to be some confusion as to the function of this mod...this mod has nothing to do with the map light or the light that turns on when you open the doors...this is simply a mod that gives you a little flashlight in your car...not to mention it beats having a cigarette lighter that i never use...
