ignition question

when is a upgraded ignition needed i'm only looking to boost 7-8.5 lbs right now ??

You don't need one. A MSD or any ignition is normally just a added precaution. They are fairly cheap so getting system is easy. But as for needing one, I think you will be ok w/o it.
