Headwork or sleeves? What would you choose? why?
Currently I am gathering parts for my build. I already have my cylinder head (BRAND NEW in box ITR head that I got for a KILLER deal) , 94 GSR shortblock, .25 OS P30's for the block, BC3+ cams and misc other things. As you all know, income tax time is right around the corner. I'm debating on whether I should use this money to send my head to PortFlow and rebuild block with P30's or send block to GE to have it sleeved to 84 and use the stock, mild port ITR head. I know that I wont be able to use the P30's if I choose to sleeve the block (I'll go with the RS machines 84mm ITR style pistons). What would you do? why? Which would yield best results? This is a DD 92 integra GSR. I'll be ripping out the B17 for this new build.
what do you say?
1.8 with headwork or 2.0 with no headwork?
Thanks in advance for all feedback, negative or positive.

Send the head to dh-racing they do killer headwork and gaurentee 45% hp gain to the wheels they are from cali check out the site its dh-racing.com
why buy a itr head and get it ported. shoulda bought a b16 head for 250 and get that thing ported. as for the block it all depends on your budget. if you have the money then get it sleeved and go bigger bore.
What is the guarentee? If I have a 200 WHP unported 2.0 and do not get 290 WHP with there head what do I get back, all my time and money? Is this guarentee in writing? Sounds like free head work, labor and parts to me.
I was talking about the deal from D-H racing in the above post. Forgot to hit Quote.

i agree 100%
but one has to weigh out the cost as well.

I spent $900 on a street port from DonF and i made 240whp in my 2.0l LSVTEC.
If i were, with cast OEM pistons, and a brand new ITR head, i wouldnt get headwork. id sleeve it or better yet spend $300-400 on a B20 block, and spend the other $600 on pistons and rods.
Stock ITR head can make 200-210whp, ive seen it happen in person.

Sleeves first. Period. Once you have a good solid sleeved block, you can improve upon it at your leisure. Get a ported head in a year. New cams. With a sleeved block you have a solid foundation to build upon and experiment with.
^ couldn't have said it any better. If I had a choice and can do one or the other I would do the Block first..and save money for headwork later
I got a super deal on this head. I bought it BRAND NEW in the Honda box along with new ITR cams for $800 on Ebay from a gentleman who worked at an Acura dealership. I then sold the cams for 420 on Ebay. I pretty much spent $380 on a complete 0 mile new ITR head
. Thanks to everyone for the responses. I really appreciate it.

if an itr head is good for 200-210, how much is a b16 head good for?? I made 206 on a stock b16 head...does that make the itr head worthless??

That just means that with a better head, you would have made 220

what i am saying is, i have seen STOCK ITR heads make 210whp on MY DYNO, so thats 220 on everyone elses.
unless you have the bottom end to push that kind of HP, i wouldnt get headwork .
Most STOCK GSR/B16 heads max out around 190-195whp on my dynojet

Forged internals are not in the budget. Mortgage, bills and expecting my first child own me. The ITR replicas will do just fine for this daily driver. Thanks again for everyones input.
ok, makes perfect sense. I would like to get a reading on your dyno to see how it compares to the one in Montgomery. Maybe one day!!!
sell the gsr block and buy a b20 block and pistons with money left over. they port the head with the original money you had to start with

Nice job. Who did the port job? Did you have aftermarket cams and valvetrain?
