good brand of rotor for track time
I have a 89 crx si that i am putting rear discs on from a 91 si. I will be using the car for autox and for some track days this year. I have tried to search on rotors on here and no good luck except for the one about not using crossdrilled. I just wanted to know if there is a good quality rotor for track time that holds up and does not warp easy. Thanks in advance for any help.
I use signature series rotors from RaceShopper.com on my Integra for road racing. They are a quality OEM style replacement that is pretty cheap. They have held up better than the OEM replacements from Brembo that I started out using.
I have never had an issue w/ Autozone/Advance replacement rotors. I have went to several events & not been kind on the brakes.

Also, when I was racing, I think there is a one year warranty so I just kept swapping my rotors for new ones.

Mine are only used for daily driver, autocross, and HPDE use, so I'm not nearly as hard on the brakes as a dedicated race car. However, my $16 rotors (Integra) from Autozone are holding up perfectly fine. Hell, at that price point, I just replace them when I replace the pads and never worry about them.

ive got a 91 teg... i got the rotora slotted rotor with hawk hp pad and stainless steel lines... works super good... had them over a year now... lots of meat still left on the brakes and the rotors still look good!!! they've been to many auto x events... many meaning like 20 or so...

I have tried LOTS of different types of OE rotors on my CRX and they all do the same thing!
So, I just use the cheapest autozone rotors I can get my hands on.

doesn't happen, unless cheap rotors aren't using iron, and they all do.

the only thing you will notice diffrent is how much they crack (the little micro cracks). You should replace them when you put new pads on anyway.
BTW - I have had two of the brembo blanks crack all the way through before I used 50% of my pads ..

That is great to hear that so many people just use the cheap autozone rotors. I am so glad I asked on here first before taking a chance and spending more money on something I don't need. It looks like I am on my way to Autozone for some cheap rotors. Thanks again for the replies.

do you have any info on thermal conductivity of iron vs. cheap iron?
the only differences you might see in some inexpensive rotors is if they have a different number of "vanes" inside that may reduce how much air they "pump" and you might see some cooling change them. take a look at your honda rotor and the cheaper replacement rotor. also look to see if there is any major differences in the quality of the casting inside that could reduce air flow.
otherwise, use the autozone, etc. never failed yet.

i've had all the possible OEM brake set ups on the EF. best track rotors-cheap. my rear rotors have over 60k with zero issues and i only drive the car on track and at autocrosses. the autozone 1 year warranty failed me when i cracked my old 9.5" at the glen. they said i had a dragging caliper because the rotors 'had alot of small cracks and were blue'
