Default SI Cluster Lighting... Can We Figure It Out?

Okay, so does the si cluster light up amber from the factory or not? Ive heard it does, but when I ordered new bulbs for it from work (honda), they came with a blue cover (nipple). A co-worker said they come like that and to take the blue covers off, but then I said, wont they not be amber then? And he didnt know. I also showed him how the Climate Control bulbs (***** and buttons) come with an orange / red cover. Ive tripple checked the part #s, so any other ideas? Maybe someone with a factory cluster (never been tampered with) could open their cluster and help clarify.

The 99-00 civic si bulbs comes with no covers. All the other ones are blue ones. Just take the blue cover off.

why would you want the climate control bulbs for the cluster?

The cluster lights up amber independently from the bulbs. Inside the gauge faces, it's orange and not blue (like the EX, LX, DX). The climate control, however, needs the amber condom to produce amber light.

Okay, got the cluster to light up amber (thanks to everyone). But, I took Eran's suggestions to remove the top (2) bulbs for a "sharper" image of the cluster. But, now the needles do not illuminate, so im going to put the bulbs back in (unless someone knows an alternative method).

My question is, theres a "filter" that the top two bulbs go through which normally has a blue tint to it (which I erased with paint thinner). Since the bulbs are clear, I imagine if I stuck the bulbs back in (with the clear filter) that the needles would be white, which I don't want. So, I know normally the "filter" comes with a blue tint, but is it different for the si then OR did the si also come with a blue filter (thus the needles would be white)?

ultraviolet l.e.d.s FTW, will make your needles glow white, but wont over light the cluster thus keeping the "sharp" gauges
