Was wondering if the S2000 antenna would fit on the 4th gen prelude?

I rememeber a while back that it would work, but I'm not sure what if anything needs to be modified. Let us know how it goes. I've been dealing with a gremlin in the trunk for about 2 years now.

I would like to bump this thread back up because its better then starting a new thread, and because my antenna totally stopped moving today. The motor still works but the antenna just makes a grinding noise, and I have a feeling that it causes the trunk to leak.

So... is the S2000 antenna the fix, or is replacing the antenna mast the ticket? Let me know who has fixed this problem.

Thanks
matt

When I bought my car my antenna didn't move.. Motor tried to make it, but it just grinds.. . Burrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnn grrrrnnnnnnn....... Bah! Got tried of it!
I got a hidden antenna so I can get my shaved off.. I there was a "Plug" for our Ludes I'd get one so I could just remove the antenna all together, otherwise it'll just sit there useless and adding extra weight.. :/

wouldn'tthe antenna work so long as the plugs were the same? like get a full s2k antenna, remove your existing one, run it fron the trunk to your head unit where the existing one used to be. if I could find one, I would do it. but the Junk yards around here suck!

I would think it would if all the plugs were the same.. Only thing that would be different would be the power plugs which you could cut/splice to work. The actual "cable" that runs the signal is the same as it is in every car/radio.
Just go on E-Bay though, they have Sk2 antenna's all over it I believe. Get one for less than $50 shipped easy. A replacement (from E-Bay) of a antenna like the Prelude will be at least almost $30 plus shipping probably.. So might as well spend an extra few for the Sk2 antenna if you actually "want" the antenna..

haha...just looked on ebay, the only real S2K antennas being sold is the part that just screws in the antenna housing that is mounted in the car...

if someone wants to be a guinea pig and buy this one, so we can see how the fitment is...

uts on flamesuit for posting an ebay link:

Killer hole ftw

I'm thinking I would rather have the OEM antenna, but if it will just crap out again 2 years from now maybe not.

Well I don't understand how an antenna is ugly, but you have to give some props to the fact that it raises and lowers.

No Grinds at all, or it just works? How long did it take you to change the mast? I know how to take out the interior, but I was wondering if you even need to or if you could approch this from the outside of the car.
Thanks
Matt

does anyone know how to dissconnect it so that it woll stop trying to go up all together?
