I just ordered the an MSD iginition along with a cap and disty cover, Do I really need it?
These are the parts that I ordered,
MSD-32349 MSD 8.5 mm Super Conductor Wire Sets $69.95
MSD-6420 MSD Ignition Control Units $195.95
MSD-8202 MSD Blaster 2 Ignition Coils $28.95
MSD-8293 MSD Modified Distributor Caps for Honda/Acura $49.95
MSD-8735 MSD Launch Control Module Selectors $135.95
I also bought an EGT gauge and fuel pressure gauge to monitor my setup
ATM-20011 Auto Meter Gauge Pods and Instrument Cluster Bezels $69.95
ATM-5763 Auto Meter Phantom Series Gauges $179.95
ATM-5765 Auto Meter Phantom Series Gauges $97.99
My question is, should I cancel the MSD stuff since the stock ignition is adequate, or will the MSD iginition help since I am running high compression. My setup is as follows
Jun type 3 Cams with Jun dual valve springs.
Crower titanium valve-spring retainers
Skunk 2 cam gears
Skunk 2 intake manifold (port matched to head)
Ported and polished head
66 MM bored B16 throttle body
AEM Cold air intake for Integra type R (3" diameter)
Civic type R pistons (12.1:1) compression ratio
Hondata programmable ECU (9500 RPM redline) with custom fuel/timing maps
RC Engineering 440 cc/min injectors
B&M fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge
DC sports JDM 4-1 stainless steel header with 2 1/2" collector
Carsound High flow cat (2 1/2" inlet, 2 3/8 outlet)
Greddy Evo exhaust (2 3/8 piping)
Clutchmasters stage 1 clutch and 9 lb aluminum flywheel
Energy Suspension motor mount inserts

Even at 12:1 CR the stock ignition system is quite capable.
I personnally would cancel the MSD stuff and put the money on extra tuning time.
