Poor Gas Mileage 2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe Automatic
Is anyone else experiencing poor gas mileage on their 2006 Honda Civic EX Coupe automatic? I have been getting 22 MPG - 27 MPG and I have had the car for less than 6,000 miles. For a car that is rated 30/40, I can't believe this car isn't performing better. It has been at the dealer for diagnostic testing, but they can't determine anything is wrong.
Please respond if you are having issues too.

depending on where you live but all of the fuels are different. Also a different type of fuel is used for winter time. Here in Chicago, it's not unusual to get lower gas milage during the winter time. Fuel used in the winter time is blended to burn easier due to cold temps, but our gas milage suffers. Fuels are always being modified somehow without our knowing. But nothing to hurt our vehicles though.
I average 26-28 in my LX auto sedan, I've hit 30 twice, both 99% highway driving ones. Wish I could hit 35.. 40 just sounds like a ridiculous claim.
i average about 35 mpg. For the most part I drive conservatively shifting at like 2500-3000 half highway and half city. I have gotten as low as 29mpg and as high as 41mpg. I seem to be one of the lucky ones that actually gets good milage
Hope this helps

In my past honda experiences the 0-5000 miles is usually the strongest (fastest) but worst gas mileage.
I usually chalked it up to getting used to the car...break in oil... climate (when i got the car winter/summer) etc etc
If i were you i'd review my driving habits, get a fresh oil change & filter and review if your using the A/C alot...
even switch up your gas... Gas in GASETERIA is not the same as Mobil....
and report back to us after you do the above.

I have 22k on my car, frankly, I drive like a bitch [to see what kind of mpg I can get] I've done the oil changes [Mobile 1 synth], I only use fuel from well known stations [Exxon, Shell, Sunoco] and still only getting a best of 30mpg. This is 2500rpm shifting, crusing the highway for around 20 miles each way to and from work. I recently changed my air filter. I've even made sure the tires were at the correct pressure.

06' EX auto - with about 7,000 miles on her. Usually drive 75% city, 25% highway. BEST gas mileage ever was about alittle under 29, and that was the first month or two. Now, I get 25-27 at best. The gas mileage (and non-use of premium gas) was the deal breaker for buying the EX over the SI. If I would have known that I would be getting poor mileage, I would have gotten the SI. Oh well, they are still the most wanted car in my opinion.
