Default SI tranny on EX D16?

so i have a chance to get a custom welded LSD no-slip SI tranny for my D16Y8, but im wondering if im actually going to benefit from doing this, how are the gears on the SI tranny compared to the ones on the D16Y8 tranny?

any help is appreciated.

I don't understand what you mean by custom welded, trannys arent welded in the first place. But the 92-95 Si trans is really close if not identical to the EX trans. Basically, how much are you getting this for? I'm kinda confused man.

I know that the eg (92-95 civic) transmissions are the same but that is because the engines are the same. SI for your years are B16a2's and as far as I know the transmissions are different.

b series transmissions arn't compatable with d engines. and if your talkin about a si transmission from the 92-95, i dont even think its that different from d16y8 gears.

If you are talking about welded spider gears on the diff, you will hate that **** on the street. Also, the only difference will be fifth gear. .750 compared to your .702

Word of advice. If you do not have a clue, and people are completely baffled here. Don't get/do/think whatever it is. Pass it up, spend elsewhere.

If you aren't having problems with your trans why not stick with it? You could spend $400 on an OBX LSD for your tranny and be done. Oh yea. Your tranny has steel forks. That one has aluminum ones.

D series tranny is a D series tranny as far as it bolting up. No custom work there unless you put a cable one in.

i think you're talking about a Welded Diff, which will prolly suck at turning lol.

d16z6 si trannies have weaker aluminum shift forks, while the y8 trannies have steel, which are better
