Is this a good deal on an s2000?
Local dealer has a 2005 NFR for $23,400 out the door. Car has 14,000 miles, was previously a lease car. Completely stock. One thing I noticed is the front bumper has been repainted. Has a clear title and clean carfax with no accident history. Are better deals to be had?

unfortunately, even though the carfax is clean it does not mean the car has not been in some sort of accident.....as you pointed out w/ the bumper cover having been repainted...
I would say take it to a reputable body shop and have them tell you what all has been painted/repaired.... the good shops can tell.....

Sounds like a good deal but that front bumper would have me worried, too.
I was asking just a tad more for my 04 w/ 12k miles on it...so, price-wise it's a good deal if it's in sound shape.

thanks for the input. the things that bother me are:
1. Why would a dealership give me this good of a deal?
2. The car is known to have had "suspension damage" that was fixed.
3. The car started out as a lease vehicle, I thought leases ran for 3 years? If so how do you get out of a lease early? Possible that person leasing the car got into an accident with it and wanted something different?
With an accident history how much does it bring down the price compared to one with a non-accident history?

-dealers want to move it quickly to prevent paying further taxes on it.
also to make room for newer used models.
-have a body shop inspect the damaged areas ie suspension parts.
front bumper could of been replaced due to rock chips, etc
-some leases can be for 2 yrs. also this could be a repo, or got from an auction,
or traded in for another honda after 2-3yrs.
-these issues could be why dealer is selling at a good deal.
btw, i thought u had a S2k already?
i would look around for another.

The bumper may have not been repainted. The s2k's have really crappy paint matching between the bumpers and the body. It's partially due to the fact that the bumpers are plastic, or that they are not sprayed at the same time in the factory.
