any mods?

i don't have an si but i do have an 05 Type-S and i am getting crappy MPG too.. but i found out it was due to my bad camber...i mean its really bad..and my tires are dragging. btw i'm lowered on tein ss..so thats the reason for my neg camber..(no camber kit) i will fix the camber and it should return to normal...and yours can be due to anything like restricted fuel filter, dirty air filter, and etc..

Somethins wrong with your car. I would pull out about 280-300 miles per tank before my light would turn on.

Check ur alignment, tire pressure, etc. Thats usually the culprit.

First you need to determine your actual MPG. How far did you drive, and how many gallons did it take to fill up? From that information you will be able to determine if you really are getting crappy mileage or if your tank sending unit is whacko.

thats about what i get. if its all freeway, im at about 320-330. maybe more. i got to vegas with about 310 or so miles driven and i had atleast another 40+ miles to go. with mixed driving, i get about 270-290 per tank. light comes on at about 280-290.

There very well could be something wrong with the car, but make sure you consider how you are driving and any whacky mods done to the car, if there are any.

I have seen some guys get horrible mileage because they are always driving in the city and they race from one stop light to another. I am not saying you are doing this, just saying I have seen some guys I know think they are getting bad mileage, when really they are holding the gas pedal all the way down all the time.

'03 Type S here and if i drive mostly highway i can get 375 miles to a tank... that's no VTEC, and cruising between 3k-3.5k rpms... that's bout 75% highway and 25% around town... but if i rev it out to 8k a few times, that number drops considerably...

I notice the best mileage for around town driving when i shift at 3k...

To the thread starter, try driving one whole tank without revving over 3.5k and see what the mileage does...

well if you did 225 miles and put 13 gallons in, you would be averaging 17 mpg so its not much better.

At 17mpg, 13 gallons into a tank rated at only 13.2 gallons put you 3 1/2 miles away from having to push the car to the gas station. And yes, 17mpg is extremely low. Either your numbers are wrong, the gas station is hosing you big time, or there is something way whack with your car.
