just like the topic says...anyone running this setup...any piston to valve clearance issues or anything...i know search and i did...just want to know if anyone has done this and had any problems...don't want to to have to buy the cams just find out its not a going to work...

Just curious u say it wont work...where did u get this info from???
everybody speaks behalf word of mouth rather then hands on..I dont see why pro 2s wont work on ctr pistons...Ah good friend of mine we just put his
B18c1 ctr pistons .50 overbore
b16head
Skunk2 Pro Valvetran
Supertech flat Valves
Aebs man 65mm with 65mm THROTTLEBODT
SMSP header
SKUNK 2 PRO 3 CAMSHAFTS
Pro series camgears
Now people say it wont work people also say ctrs are ah bad idea 4 ah piston choice...Hes runnin this setup daily got it tuned the next day after we finished slappin everything togther..He mad no camshaft adjustments just put together started it up let it run 4 bout 30minutes took the plugs out cranked it 4 bout 15seconds put the plugs back in and the next morning went 2 get tuned..LASKEYRACING BREAK IN PROCESS....
he made some gooood ****** #s surprised the **** outta me on ah unported head aswell went 2 the track and laid down some good track times on bfgs...
LEAST 2 say i feel it will work if u kno what u doin as far as puttin ah motor togther is concerned........

so then i would have a little more room to adjust the gears then since i'll be running the pro 2's then...i know maybe not much but at least + or - 2 degrees maybe...on the gears

B18C1 = less stroke then a B18B1. He is using an LS/Vtec, not a GSR engine. Hence he will have LESS clearance then the engine you brought up.

CTR's are a VERY bad piston choice. Think about it. They are quite heavy compared to the other options available from honda. The extremely large dome is going to mess with flame travel as well. Not to mention the fact that the setup you mentioned is pushing close to, if not over 13:1 compression with those flat valves.. And I didn't take into account any head milling or block decking either! I don't know about you, but 13:1 is quite steep for a street engine. He should have made well over 210 at those levels!

This worrys me. He made no adjustments because he most likley has no room to adjust. You ever clayed an engine? That engine for SURE should have been clayed to see what you have available for adjustment. Now you are just guessing. Your going to run into clearance issues pretty damn quickly with that setup.
Bottom line to the original poster, CLAY THE ENGINE and find out what you are working with at the very least. Don't take everyones word for it around here. Seems some of the "Engine builders" got thier education from the internet which would worry me quite a bit..

o boy HONDA TECH man...look i gave my opinions i dont care bout wat every1 gotta say clayin, ctrs bad pistons, clearance etc wateva my boy **** werked he just recently got his pnp head back from portflow aswell manifold and 70mm throttle body ***** runnin fabulous on pro3s...SKUNK 2 said the setup is kick *** and should make good #s so we see when he goes 2 the dyno ...the last tune was street tune on an unported head and this time he is clayin the motor 2 see how much he can advance..So opinions arent needed cuz i really dont care..
Pootieteng Do what u feel is right if my friend setup workin fine and he on pro 3s and skunk 2 said it will work why wont pro 2s work is my question..But w.e. im done with replyin 2 every1 who comments everything i say

I'm not trying to "comment everything you say" or am I picking on you specifically. You babled some crap that didn't make sense, I cleared it up for you. That simple. You might want to CORRECTLY calculate your buddies compression also because its going to be higher then 12.7 as you say. Remember, compression height and piston to deck height changes with CTR pistons. You can't calculate it using stock values or your figures will be wrong.
I don't know why you posted your first reply only to delete it and come up with this latest creation. I don't care what your "boi" did to his engine recently. Personally, your broken english and lack of technical knowledge/details leads me to believe you in the same boat as these other internet babblers. I didn't reply to your post initially to attack you, I was trying to clear up the false statements and help to make sure someone didn't get mislead with your post. Keep in mind something. Just because you and your "boi" threw together an engine with a mix of parts and it JUST SO happened to work, doesn't mean its the correct way to assemble an engine and that people shouldn't clay, check clearances, etc.

ive called that fool out on several occassions. he doesnt know his *** from a hole in the ground. he doesnt know whos the part came from he just babbles BS from his ***. ive asked him about his BOIs cam gears and he never answers. ive got a whole chart of V2V clearance on pro 2s. to my surprise i havent seen many people who are posting up that they blew up their motors on Pro 2s. considering how many idiots are out there using these cams just baffles me. maybe they are embarrassed to post up they didnt check clearances. back in the day when i was stupid i never did any clearance checking but with these newer cams YOU HAVE TO. claying takes forever and i dont recommend it to anyone.
o answer the original posters question. yes they will clear, i wouldnt recommend CTR pistons in anything other than a race motor. even then id go aftermarket and 2L.

i hear what u sayin 100% and didnt know my broken english had 2 be perfect on ah website..but all in all yea it was ah backyard special which was ah test 2 see if what skunk2 said would work WORK and it did..i just helped with puttin the motor in the car didnt stick around 4 the who slap pistons cams etc in but hes built plenty of motors 4 hisself and others so pretty sure its the correct way since he owns ah SHOP..all in all he didnt advance the cams he left them on 0.0 car started and the tuner did the rest...and as 4 the guy under me callin out out about degrees and blahblahblah dont recall or remember that 1 but wateva.....his setup work thats what matters when i catch up 2 him if i ever do being i werk like ah mexican i will let people kno his CLEARANCES because as i said before he was waitin on his pnp and it came and then he clayed idk the clearances 1nce again but as i said the tuner did all of that stuff...thanx 4 the advice up above though

*knocks on wood*
My engine has been running amazingly well for a year and a half now with the Pro2+'s.
I'll let you know what my valves look like when I tear the head off for a look-see one of these days.

geez...so many mixed opinions on here...but i gather up my thoughts and i decide to go another route so i'm dissing the ctr pistons...just ordered some wiseco 12:1 pistons from b18bturbo here on honda-tech that i'm going to throw on some eagle rods i have laying around...also picked up some pro2's from b18c1si too...hopefully everything else works out with my build and i come about no problems...yes i'm going to clay the motor...its a must...i'm not going to lose all this money i've invested into this motor like i did my last motor that i ran lean and fawked up...this time i'm towing it to the dyno...
but i got ctr's on ls rods resized, shot-peen and all ready to throw into a motor for sale now...comes with rings and all...check it out...

Good man, for ditching the pcts.
But it maight be hard to sell those pcts because of the high compression issue.
