My RANTS on Golden Eagle... :(
k, first off, I know they do good quality work...but in my opinion, their service SUCKS. I missed the group buys back in January and ended up paying the regular price and sent out my block Febuary. Guess what, I still don't have it...
Mind you, they told me that their O-ring tool broke and that I had two choices, wait a week until they fixed the o-ring tool or just have them ship it to me. I figured I'm not in a rush and will just have them do it. Well, that was in MARCH.
Everytime I call, it's another excuse..."the tool broke again...", "the tool still hasn't been fixed"...which is ALL FINE if they tell me the truth. But everytime, they say, "It'll ship out end of this week", or "It'll ship out tomorrow...call two days from now for a tracking number..."
I've been calling for over a month and everytime I get a promise, couple days later, they still haven't done anything. Maybe it's a mistake that I told them back in march that I wans't in a big rush...but when i said that, I didn't expect that my block would still be sitting at Golden Eagle in the middle of MAY.
I don't know if anyone else has had this kind of experience but I thought I'd let anyone know...maybe you can avoid such a mess. I'd expect to get some kind of refund for this but they don't seem to be willing to do that either...
some customer service...

waiting from february to may for a motor is nothing in this industry. i know people who've waited on motors from other companies for more than 6 months to a year. trust me... nobody's perfect...
Except when they say 3-4 weeks....I wouldn't of had a problem if they said it'll take three months. What I hate is someone telling me it WILL be done REPEATEDLY and not following up to that...
I guess just don't tell them you're not in a rush...like i said, i think that was my mistake...kinda feel taken advantage of...

my brother ordered a built gsr block from imort builders its been over like 2 months already. They said that it was harder for them to find a gsr block to build. But hopefully we'll get it soon, I only here good things from them. Its glad to hear that this is common. I'm sure you'll get your block.
Most turbo guys order their blocks either with the sleeves raised .002 over the deck or with o-rings. I guess most everyone must choose the .002 raise or there would be a lot of mad people not getting their o-ringed blocks back.
I sent my block out to GE also and my head to portflow both at the same exact time. GE claims there turnaround time is 5-7 days (thats what they emailed me and I have copies), portflow said turnaround time is 3-4 weeks. I just got a call from portflow today and they are done, I had them do all the basic headwork, complete valvetrain, and a whole bunch of extra stuff. Well they told me that there done and shipping out today and should arrive next week.
I was expecting to get my block back first, I emailed GE and they told me that everything is done and they are just waiting for ARIAS to send my pistons, since I had them bore out my block 2mm over I needed them to make my pistons. Then they will ship it out once the pistons arrive. After reading this thread I hope they not making excuses also.

Yea, I really hope so. It's irritating and I think I'll definately look to another alternative if I go this route again. Keep me updated on what happens with your block...
they told me 10-15 working days for sleeve, bore, hone, and then 5-10 working days for line boring, balancing, rod and bearing fitting, and final reassembly.
they turned it around quicker than that, and i found their service to be absolutely top notch.

I am not going to make excuses for our delay on 2000accord5sp's block. We did "F" up. Sometimes there are circumstances that arrise in a company that are unavoidable. Yes our Prelude o-ring tool broke and we had to have a tool house make us another one. Guess what, we were in the same boat you are, waiting and getting impatient and pissed off. I know that there is no excuse for the delay regardless of our circumstances, so I apologize. Everyone must know this though, out of the 30 - 35 block a WEEK we sleeve, only about 1% of those blocks are later than the expected finish date. In my opinion, that is not bad at all. Some of you may read this whole thread and want to seek alternative places for engine sleeving and building, so I say try it. I know that there is no one in the industry that can do the same quality job we do in the amount of time that we do it in. I ask all of you to call some of the other re-sleeving houses out there and ask for their warranty on their sleeved blocks. Guess what, they don't have one. We are the only place to offer ANY kind of warranty and we ALWAYS stick by it and stand behind our products because we know that they are top notch and unbeatable. Cocky you may say, hell yes we are!! We have put alot of time and effort into being able to supply you, the public, with the best damn engine block on the market and we will never stop trying to improve upon ourselves to keep ahead of the game. We are a company that really does try to please you with our quality and innovation. I hope some of you see that and keep that in mind whenever we do have a **** up that is posted for the wole world to see. Well, to finish, I do apologize for the delay and you will be receiving your block shortly and as always, any questions, comments or concerns can be addressed to me personally at (909) 592 - 4311 or vince@goldeneaglemfg.com . Thanks. Vince Tiaga, Golden Eagle Mfg. ( http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com )
Whew.......thanks Vince, I knew I had nothing to worry about. Obviously there is alot of good things said about GE here at honda-tech, thats why I went w/ you guys. And unfortunately misfortunes do happen but I am glad you posted explain everything. That shows that you do care about what your customers think.
Vince is the poop. All my phone calls were returned, silly questions answered, and I`m extremely happy w/ my block. I even got to play w/ the dogs on two occasions
Portflow-Tom is hands down one of the nicest guys in this industry

My experiences with Vince and Golden Eagle have been nothing short of excellent. When I first sent my block in it was mixxed up with another block (In a groupbuy) and it had the wrong bore done on it, GE paid for all the shipping and corrected the mistake pronto.. I can't speak of any other company that has better customer service than these guys!! Yeah you might have to wait a bit but it is worth it in the long run.. I always use this comparison but you dont walk into a tattoo parlor and want the cheapest quickest work do ya?
Man I am sorry about your problem, but I have learned to get engines to machine shops before december if you want them back before spring, no matter what they say the are slammed durring the beggining of race season, also they bore more b series stuff than anything else so they may have to set up the machine for the accord block, not making excuse just hope things work out, but when you get the block back you will be in buisness mine was great, Jason
