Default What mods do you suggest for an '02 Accord ?

I sold my prelude and now I have an 02 Accord sedan, 5 speed

Is it worth putting a header on ? Underdrive pulley ? Just looking for ideas on what mods are worth it

bolt on wouldn't do much for power gain.

if you ask me, the most cost effective mod i've done to my 02 was turbo.

sadly but true, the car was sold recently

The best mod there is would be maintenance. Check for oil leaks and odd noises, dirty fluids and such. Take care of all that first

I've maintained it since it was new but my wife drove it, so it is in great condition. It has 59k miles btw

turbo sounds fun but probably not feasible, seems like a lot of headaches after reading notoriousB's threads

Man another one of threads again?! LOL.

Do whatever you want with your car. For me, since i don't want to spend much money. I'll go for some small things. intake, header, maybe exhaust. Maybe some interior mods. maybe put some new wheels and lowering springs.

Like I said, up to you. or JDM engine swap.

I would just put some nice rims, coilovers and front/rear sway bars on to improve your handling. The accord for most people will never be fast unless you spend alot of time and money on it. If you are looking for speed, buy a different car. So with that said I would just work on improving your handling.

Make sure you get high performance muffler bearings and check your blinker fluid levels too.

I like this idea as the car handles like a boat now. I did get some 16" rims awhile back. Please excuse my complete lack of knowledge of suspension upgrades but what are coilovers? I don't want a harsh ride and tires that rub the wheelwells.

Here is a picture:

Coilovers are like springs... but unlike springs that give you a specifc ride height, coilovers can be adjusted, from 0 to 4 inches (most of them), that means... you could have your car sitting at the stock height, or drop it 4 inches lower than stock height..... better known as "slammed"...
With the tires you have, I don't think you would have a harsh ride, but if you were rolling on 19's with the lowest profile tires possible.... there was no way the car would be confortable when riding it.
Just drop it 1 or 2 inches, get a camber kit to correct your camber, so you wouldn't need to buy tires because of premature tire wear for not using a camber kit. I personally, would recommend you to go with KYB AGX's adjustable gas shocks... and maybe some coil overs.... I use dropzone coilovers.... and I think the suspension was worth every penny.
I spend about 800 dollars with my suspension:
*300 for KYB AGX's shocks
*120 for camber kit
*130 for DropZone coil overs
*250 for installation and 4 wheels alignment.

^^^ That's not exactly correct. The first post in the Guide to basic Accords is all about suspension. It's got all the info you need.

And no offense, but your DropZone adjustable springs/sleeve-overs are neither coilovers nor quality parts.

Nah... I would not get offended... but.... what do you mean?!
The suspension feels very nice, the ride is comfortable and feels very safe at high speeds, I would like to understand why you think dropzone isn't good?!

there are better products out then dropzone. and calling sleeves coilovers is misleading. true coilovers are COIL springs with adjustable perches OVER a damper. hence the name COILOVER. what you have are just sleeves.

Cheap sleeve-overs are popular in my area for some reason. Some of the cars I've ridden in, some of them I've driven. Some of them I've even worked on myself. In more than one car with DropZones, the spring rates were very different from one side of the car to another. One guy bought a used, riced-out Civic and asked me to swap a bunch of parts for him. The car came with DropZone adj. springs, and on 2 of them the threaded sleeves were cracked half way around. I've heard of a lot worse from other people too.

I've driven a LOT of different cars with a LOT of different suspension setups over the years. The difference between Ground Control alone and any other sleeve-over is night-and-day. One of the first things you learn with suspension parts is that comfortable doesn't necessarily mean quality. DropZone really seems to be a hit-or-miss because they haven't been consistant with the quality of their products. I see more unhappy costumers than happy.

With that said, I'd still rate them slightly higher than other eBay sleeve-overs.

Oh, the same thing goes for true, quality coilovers and the cheap coilovers. Night-and-day difference.

^ yep. i have groundcontrol coilovers and the ride is great. I was gonna go with just some tein springs, but then realize that i might want to adjust the height so i went with better quality. but as for mods, it depends on what you want to mod first. exterior/interior/performance. but overall, i think most people would get a sri installed first since its the cheapest and quickest mod that can be done.

Danm... I guess I missed out on that one. Anyway, I appreciate the honesty of both Pos_cd5 and phillad. But honestly, i would say that I am, in fact happy with the "sleeves overs", because everytime I had the car being jacked or something..... I always.... just for precaution... checked the height level of each one of the "sleeves", and seems like they never moved even an inch, and still feel the same way they felt a year and a half back when I first bought them.
For now, I will keep them, but maybe in the future if I experience any problem, I would switch to ground controls or a higher quality product.
Thanks.
