Default CEL Code 7. Safe to Drive?

Today coming home from having my emissions done i was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden the car bogged down and the check engine light came on. while switching lanes to pull over everything went back to normal however the CEL light stayed on. I assumed it was on for my O2 sensor (which randomly comes on cause its not hooked up cause of my wideband) so when i stopped i turned off and restarted my car but the CEL came back on with it.

When i got home i pulled the code and it was CEL code 7. which is the Throttle Sensor. So i popped the hood to inspect the sensor to see if the connector came off or loose or something. and to my suprise i found the sensor literally broke in half around where the connector plugs into it. So obviously thats why i have the CEL cause its not getting a good connection.

So heres the weird part though. like i said the car is driving and running perfectly fine. like nothing is even wrong. I've had 2 other TPS sensors go bad on me but when they did the car jerked and sputtered around and ran like ****. (they also didn't throw the CEL which is odd).

So do you think i'm fine driving the car with this CEL light on or should i park it untill i find a replacement sensor? The car is my Daily driver so i'd have to borrow a car tell i get the sensor. also do any of you have any idea of why the sensor would strait up crack and break in half like it did? The only idea i could see playing into it is the fact that its been in the single digits here in Utah as far as the weather goes and for some reason that had something to do with it. i don't know. thanks for any help you can give.

When my TPS went bad on my ITB setup, the car ran rich as Hell... The car doesn't know what's going on with throttle position, so it loads up on fuel to be safe.

I wouldn't drive it, TPS sensors aren't that hard to come by. Have you removed one before? You know about grooving the rivets to screw them out?

Just make sure your new TPS is calibrated properly... .50volts if I remember correctly?

I had the exact same problem with my car. It ran like complete *** and jerked around everywhere. But as soon as the CEL for the tps came on it began to run fine again. I thought my car was the only freak that this would happen to.

Just get a new one, make sure the tab on the back of the sensor is in between the two tabs on the tb. The rivets are kind of a pita to get out while on the car but its still doable...replace with some short 10mm bolts.
