Default VSS

car: 1996 honda civic dx 5speed

bought the car from a kid in cali. told me the car is completely stock. assuming that everything is stock d16y7 Motor/trans. i brought it home and been having probs with speedometer jumping around. so i got a vss from a bseries trans, work for a little bet then went out. so i ordered a obd2 vss from a user on here. tried to put it in and where it bolts on the trans, the hole doesnt line up. so im assuming the trans has been swapped out. went and bought a obd1 vss from honda dealer and it still doesnt work. any info is appreciated. thanks

well, when my speedo went crazy/dead, i checked the VSS and the pins were bent and broken. the plug from the wire harness was also messed up. I ended up replacing the whole VSS (top and bottom portion) and the plug from the wire harness

OK i bought one from honda. put it together and didnt work. went back down and they got me another one. and still not working. im going to check the pins. it was bouncing around here and there then stop working, then on my way to Stgeorge(45mins drive) it was working here and there, bouncing around. mileage wasnt work.
