4th Gen Projector Headlights-What's up with the high beams?
Alright, a buddy of mine got a set of projector headlights in a deal and once they were installed, I must admit, they didn't look bad at all IMO. But here's the problem- they've got like H4 and H3 bulbs in them... I think... and they're not a direct "plug and play" installation. So after wiring them up either the high and low beams stay on all the time or just the low beams stay on and you can't get the high beams to come on, or... nothing at all. Has anyone been through this before and can you tell us what he needs to do to get the high beams to function properly?
Eh? The headlights are not electrical at all and have no bearing on why your headlights aren't working. Must be either a wiring problem, or an electrical problem. Perhaps you wired up the H3/H4 bulbs and harness on. Maybe you bought crappy harnesses? How are you connecting the H3 bulb. Did you get the honda factory socket that it seats or did you just jerry-rig it with with spades. I'm willing to bet it's a wiring problem.

Back when i had a maxima i bought 100 w Nyoka (miss spelled) 9004 bulbs and my factory 75w wire harness turned into burnt nacho cheese..
I agree too i bet he had one side wired hot on hot and other side normal
Jerry rigging is fine just make sure you label your wires
I wonder if he used factory size bulbs

94vetec is right on then..
If your using spades on h2's h3's
Argh.. Okay first things first if I or any other body help you.. you have to promise me that you will label your wires and research things before you actually do it i don't care if it's a cup holder, floor matts, turbo supercharger, etc. research before you do your project.
You need to find a multi-meter
E-tape
**This is very important find a good ground (could be any non painted surface)**
Make sure you take the spade connectors off all bulbs when doing this and follow the two steps.
Step 1:
-Turn your car, and headlights off !!
-Goto driver side headlight
-Set your multi-meter to ohm's or conunity (better but, same as ohms)
Use com (neg) probe and touch the body of the car (neg)
-Use red probe and probe each wires that lead to your headlight mark it saying (NEG or ground)
Repeat for passenger side
Step 2:
-Check headlight wires and make sure the wires are not touching body of the car or other wires (use e-tape)
-have your friend turn on low beam
-goto driverside headlight
-set your multimeter to DC~ (DC volts)
-have neg probe (com) touching body of the car
-use red probe and probe wires to headlight spades you should find one with a voltage reading of ~12 v then label low beam
-repeat to passenger side
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't have a multi meter get two long wires with spade on one end on each wire. Now take the spade end and insert it to the bulb you, should have two long wires dangling from the bulb take one wire and have it on the body of the car (non painted surface.) next have your friend turn the low beam on and all you have to do is find the wire that lights the bulb
Your results should be:
driverside headlight:
Two hot lines (12v reading)
and two ground wires
Passenger should be the same with a total of 8 spade connectors combined
let me know how it goes
