Default Taking off the butterfly plate

do i just unbolt the bottom half and remove the plate? if so do i need to replace it with another gasket or what have you guys done instead of the gasket

is there any bad things that can happen by removing the plate?

but why? You want less low end power and the same up top?

yea....the butterfly is perfect the say it is....unless you just want the kick from no vtec to high vtec....but you will lose performance tho. but answer to your question yea you need a new gasket, if not you create a huge vacum leak.

i removed my dual butterfly crap when i did my swap. but im also running a chipped p28. vtec screams lol. but removing them is no different then swappin manifolds for a skunk 2 manifold. only difference is the skunk2 or aftermarket intake manifolds have bigger openings

Removing the butterflies differs from a Skunk 2 manifold in the sense that you are eliminating the optimization the the stock P72 manifold. Keep the butterflies to boost low-end torque.

How about you "screw" or disconnect the vacuum line (which leaves them open) and drive around with them open and see what happens. I've tried it....it resulted in hitting boost about 400 rpms later.

then yes you'll probably benefit from doing it. but a better manifold would benefit you even more.

I need help figuring out what ecu to use with an LS/VTEC in a 92 Integra with an auto tranny. Anyone have any ideas? I was told a p28 from a 92-95 Civic EX with an auto tranny will work. I would hate to buy one and it did not work.

Can you really do that?? I'm gonna have that same problem i have a hondata system working on a p28 ecu that will be going into my boosted gsr. Can you really take the butterflies out and leave the plate in there? Will that benefit the manifold than not having the plate in there at all?

WTF.....get the expletive outta here. Are you kidding me? Get your own thread man. What does this thread have to do with an automatic, a P28, a ls/vtec or a DA chassis?

You can wire an RPM switch to operate the butterflies. It is best to keep them.

How do you go about doing that though? I am under the impression that the butterflies open at around 6000 rpm and that is that extra feel you get that people mistaken as "a second vtec stage" so how would you wire a switch in that would allow them to kick on at 6000 rpm or whenever they are suppost to open.

The IAB solenoid controlls the vacuum. Consult the Helm manual for the wiring diagram. I did this years ago.

Search google for "hondahookup manuals" to find a Helm if you do not have one.
