axle removal
i'm doing my first swap and im trying to drop my axles so i can pull the motor out. i already removed the axle nuts. i created some seperation already from the transmission by using a flat head but it seems like i need to also remove some parts of the suspension in order to get the axle nuts out....i just dont know what part of the suspension i need to adjust. does anyone have a write-up and/or pictures. any help would be great. thanks
the ball joint on the very buttom, you need to take that screw of, then
seperate that from the lower control arm. Just one bolt, dont forget to unscrew
the shock from the lower control arm too, you dont have to take it out all the
way just when your going to be taking the axle out you'll want to move it a little
bit.
So in total 2 screw that you need to take out.
For the ball joint I recommend using the craftsman's 3/4 ratched,
If you've never heard of it, what you do is jack up the lower control up
while watching the gap in between the lower control arm and the knuckle,
then put the ratched in there and then drop the jack. Then you should be able
to pull out the knuckle from the lower control arm. Dont try to taking the axle
out until you have done these things.

First undo the lower ball joint, use a 17mm socket. Try using this method for separating the ball joint:

It works like a charm.
Then undo the strut fork holding on the strut, both the lower bolts and the pinch bolt. Then pull the axle out.

no no no, unbolt upper ball joint, swing spindle assembly down pop axle out of hole, then separate from tranny and ur good to go, you may also need to remoe the shock fork to remove axle
