Default 1990 Honda Accord DX Heating Core

I was told I have to take off my whole dashboard to get to the heating core. Is there a faster way to get to it so I can change it? If not how diffcult of a job is it? Also, I have a light brown odorless oil on the floor on the right hand side of the car. Any ideas what it may be?

Yeah, you have to remove the whole dash. Chiltons says its about 7-8 hours job for the replacement.

Check you coolant level in your radiator and see if the color matches. I doubt it since your heater core would leak antifreeze not oil.

Default It's a PITA

I helped a friend replace a heater core in his 92LX a long time ago and it basically took the whole weekend for us. If you have somebody else to help you along, you will be fine. Just take your time and make a mental note of how the stuff is supposed to go back together.

Oh you poor Soul; Digital camera would be useful to have on hand as things come apart. The worst fear I have of doing that job is a car coming back with a dash rattle. LOL
