Default clutch question. any difference between gsr and ls?

I recently bought 97 Ls long block, pulled the clutch off today. Damn is it shot, worn out and, all the way to the rivets. Also I bought it with a tranny the guy said it's a gsr, but their is no sticker on it. Someone said to pull the case off to check how many teeth it has on the diff. Crazy talk... But I guess my question is, does it matter if the clucth is for a gsr or ls? Are they different. Also from what I know their is a 6 bolt fly wheel and a 8 bolt.

Put the trans in 5th gear...the input shaft should turn 3.5 times for 1 turn of the diff/axles. 3.25 (ish) is a LS trans and 3.75 is a B16
