Is anyone here planning on racing this Saturday at Fontana (Honda Cup or other class)?

I have the day off and would like to watch/photograph the Honda Cup race. But I'm not going to drive 2 hours if no one is racing or if the field is small.

If you're planning on racing and would like pics, let me know which car you'll be driving (pics would help).

 

I am planning on racing in ITA and we also will have our ITB car there as well. Pics would be great since we didnt get any of the cars on track last year. Check my sig to see what the cars look like... Stop by and say Hi

 

Markos do not left on the ovel . It was fun racing you last year but the Celi is not track ready. But I will be out to see the race on sunday.

Yeah, The new season sneaked up on a lot of people this year... I think we have two or three others coming up?
... Come on Guys there must be plenty of H1 Competitors that want to run at California Speed way?? You are all welcome you know, and your cars do meet Honda Cup Specs. Pity to let these great trophys go to waste!

Come and see the "Cup" you'll be competing for... Derek who is the 2006 Champion will have his at the track.

any one know why the blue viper got black flagged?

 

I didn't hear anything about it. But I was only there on Saturday. Did it happen on Sunday?

 

Derek blew a motor... so he didn't make the Sat. race. Looks like the points will be wide open still. As Kiwi will not race a whole season.

 

I ended up going on Sunday afternoon. Caught the Spec Miatas, SRX/Pro7s, and the IT,Touring,SS,etc race. I didn't stick around for the GT/HC classes cause the kids were getting tired and ready for a nap.

I thought I saw the 95 CRX on the warm up lap, but didn't see it again?

 

Thats cause I didn't make it make around after we got the green... started losing the rear coming around the sweeper before the straight. We were in a tight battle for second and third place was on my ***, I had it caught but he had no where to go and took off my front bumper and hit the driver fender enough to start cutting into the tire.

But hey... won on saturday which was my first.

Not a great start to the 07 season. Both Derek and I were late getting out for Saturdays Qualifying session... Unfortunately Derek Dropped a valve on his second lap and I only got 2 laps in before the session was over.
Derek was out for the weekend, and I got to spend Saturdays race getting used to the new Electric power Steering system and the new found 270hp thanks to DANNY TRAN'S Incredible Header!!! The #65 car always was fast... Now it's scary fast!! Tom Lepper will be driving it again at most of the Honda Cup events this season.
Can't wait to see how Danny's K-24 Version works on my #66 car.
Anyhow, I spent the first couple of laps of Sundays race just taking it easy behind a Shelby Cobra and a Guy in a quite fast SX200 Nissan, I saw a Guy with a telephoto lense at the Right- Left combination just after the Bridge and I was getting up on two wheels very easily there so I thought I'd put on a show....
On the 4th lap I was ready to make a pass on the two cars in front of me and start chasing Vipers... When the right rear ROTA Rim decided it was time to part company with all 10 spokes... Spinning me out right in front of of the Guy with the camera! I got out and he said "Man that looked fantastic! but I've run out of film!!!" Anyway, no damage, other than the wheel and no points for Sunday.

In answer to Tsukuba07 above... Yes the points are wide open. I will be doing the whole season this year And we the Committee, have decided to add 1 more round (2 Races)to the schedule which will mean the Championship will be awarded to the driver who gains the most points from 12 out of 14 Races.
Looking forward to running with the AZ Honda Cup Cars at PIR in March... And all you Honda Challenge H1 Hot Shots are welcome too.

Doh, that would explain it then. I was sitting over where the old stands used to be. The 180* right hander just before the straight-chicane-straight ( going under the bridge). I have no idea what turn # that is??

 

PS.

We are negotiating with the "Driver" Honda-Tech "Loves to Hate" ... Who will be buying our #63 Civic H/B Type R and competing in the remaining rounds of Honda Cup with Special Projects support. The car will probably have 2.0 liter power for P.I.R.
It has always been our intention to give <U>Anyone</U> a chance to prove how good they are... So now we'll see if (He) drives as fast as he talks...
If a driver has a big ego... He probably will be fast...Won't he?

Yes I was very impressed with the way it performed. It's only about the third time I've driven the car, Tom usually drives it. I'm still trying to get used to the LHD!
We have just fitted a Danny Tran Header (Incredible!!!) and a new intake airbox system I'm developing. The Prototype seems to work great! Bumped from 253 TO 270WHP. So can't wait to get all the same stuff on my#66 JDM Car with the K-24 ?
The K-20 Car will driven by Tom Lepper again this season.
