Default Itb head question.

i'm in the process in building a N/A a6 block w/P29 pistons. i have several non vtec heads laying around, so i thought i should ask this question. my question was i know that to get the best result w/itb's is to run hi-comp. now for the life of me, i can remember where the hell i readed, some guy welding he injector recess on the head and he gained alittle more hp. but also had a better flow of air w/almost no air turblance. has anyone readed this same article/thread/forum? the only reason i ask is i have several heads laying around and why not try it. i can always chang back the head. on top of it does anyone no the preocess in which someon must venture in to this? but most of all doing this process w/o warping the head.

thanks

Default Re: Itb head question. (remoer)

For what its worth, I believe turbo magazine did an article on a GSR w/ ITBs awhile back and they found that mounting the injector way back (by the velocity stacks...like 9"s from the head) made an extra 9whp or so compared to the stock location. I'm not sure what effects it had on idle and such (being that its harder for the fuel to go through the little hole and being blocked by the butterfly plate), but for WOT, it made more power. They said it was due to better fuel atomization....but then again, thats more like them guessing why. Like I said, beats me what thats worth, but something to think about.
