Default 91 Accord EX Wagon, Sport light blinking, engine heavy

Hi.

I wonder if anybody have similar problem.. recently my 91 Accord EX wagon have its sport like blinking erratically and the engine felt heavy (higher gear?). If the green light is not on/blinking, the car runs normally. But lately, the green light stays on more than off and then on D(drive), the car will start heavy (2nd or 3rd gear?). Is this bad transmission or bad TCU?

Thanks for responding.

Togu

How much did it feel like the engine weighed?

Speedo working?

You can check for flash code on the 'S' light link below;

A sign of a bad TCU is the S light will stay on when you turn the key to the 'on' position, it should come on and run a self check and turn off.

swap out the tcu, it took a crap on you. I got my wagon for dirt and I mean dirt cheap because the owner thought it was the tranny. It would start fine the the light would come on and it would run like crap.

I bought and swapped the tcu out down the block and been good since!!!

Default Accord TCU

Thanks, All.

I replaced the speed sensor about a year ago, the speedometer is fine.

The engine is heavy like if you start the car with 2nd or 3rd gear. Based on what I read from other posting, this problem might be related with the TCU, but I'm not sure... I opened the TCU, but no capacitor was burned... Is there any way to tell which capacitor/resistor are bad? Anybody have experience with this? Thanks.

Most of the time you get a blinking light it is an electrical part gone bad; that is why I posted the link so you could get the code for a more accurate diagnostic, however if you want to start throwing parts and money at the problem, I'll not stand in your way.

OK.. I sent the TCU to a guy up in Winona, MN and he rebuilt my TCU. I put everything back and...voila.. it runs like new again. My wife is happy having her car back, I'm happy..
