Default VSS issue......Please help me....My question is very detailed.

Ok yall. I'm getting a code 17 (VSS) on my JDM B16a w/ PW0 ECU. My Speedometer work fine but I dont think Vtec is working because my rev limiter is hitting at about 7500 rpms. I've tried resetting the ECU and nothing is making the code go away. Do I need to swap out the cluster?? Thanks for your help I really need to get this thing working.

If you are getting code 17 the VSS isn't working or the ECU is not receiving the VSS.

Try using a different ECU and see if it works.

I guess I could try that...I guess I need to find someone with a PW0 ECU.

Can you buy just the little sensor thats on the back of the speedo from honda?

Is this a new swap or was it fine before and this just started to happen?

Thats a very good question...I'll be honest. I really just noticed it because of another problem. When I got the car I assumed everything was fine until I had to check something ealse witch in turn lead me to this problem. So for all I know Vtec could never have worked and the previous owner was a complete idiot and didnt know how to work on his own crap and now I have to figure it all out.

It should be 8200. If not it could be a couple of things, VSS, knock sensor, oil pressure, vtec solenoid.

I think the auto ecus have an earlier rev limit. Also keep in mind the stock tach could be off, verify with an aftermarket unit if necessary.
