Default best way to patch up holes in airbox?

just got an SI oem airbox, and found it had a bunch of holes drilled in the bottom of the box for more air.

This is not what i want, so what is the best way to patch/seal these holes? they are about 3/4" large and theres about 10 holes on each side of the box.

I was thinking black polyurathane? should i cut out strips of aluminum and liquid nails the **** to the box? thanks

You can purchase a small sheet of PVC plastic quite inexpensively. You could then trim it to fit the area you want to cover, use a flexible permanent adhesive to seal it, and use some rivets for further reinforcement. If the area include angles or curves, sheet metal would also work, and you can adhere/seal it in the same manner.

1. Buy a new intake off eBay.
2. Buy a stock intake box off eBay or h-t.
3. Deal with the holes in the bottom of the air box.

Air box not air tube people.

For a quick and easy fix get some aluminum tape that A/C technicians use on air vents from your local Home Improvement store.

Them **** work good and it will cost ya $3 bux and change.

If you really want to seal it permanently then put some sealant like silicone or that polyurthane to cover the holes for good. Since you got the aluminum tape on it it will let it cure without leaking thru.

yea, but the holes are pretty large, almost the size of a nickle, and theres about 20 holes on each side. Horrible for airflow.

Im worried about the tape/polyurathane getting sucked up inthere at WOT.

****** wish i had some rubber corks or some ****, ill try polyurathaning some metal to the holes, and hopefully it will dry.

Anybody know the best way to speed up the drying of polyurathane? oven? its like 5*f outside and ill only have a 1 hour window before i need to leave my house again.

Like I said yo...Aluminum Tape. I had to use that **** on my Intake to cover up the IAT since it's on the Mani already.

Aluminum tape is very strong and the engine is not going to suck it up, if your worried just do 2 ply's of it. I was skeptical like you too when I put it on my intake so I put 2 ply's on my.

Hell if my turbo did not suck it up already then your safe yo.

crx you are right about the aluminum tape, **** i had the best stuff b4, cant find it anymore. It was rubberized aluminum tape, really sticky and strong. That would really seal it up. but the only thing is, i want a really clean bay, so im thinking should i place the tape on the inside of the box? or the outside.

If i do the inside, its below the filter, so ill have to check it every so often, but then i can go ahead and fill the holes with black polyurathane ****, and that will at least tone the ghetto compton style

I need one, my friend that worked on the car before I bought it cut the nipples off from the firewall because we lived in Miami. Now I am in ATL and it's too cold to live without the heater.

Sure. The current 10-day forecast calls for lows in the 30's each day.

on the contrary the holes are there to assist in more airflow i personally dont see the problem if its a big deal then jus go get the bottom portion of the airbox from someone who would trade with you so you wouldnt risk watever u cover them with gettin sucked up against your air filter.

whatever i went and got some black duct tape, doesnt stick that much but it was only 2 bucks, the aluminum was 7. this is just temp purposes.

And the reason the holes are VERY bad, read around here and see that with the type-r's removing the resonator or drilling holes in the airbox lost a net 7hp. The resonator tunes the torque band, its all about pressure, you want LOTS of negative pressure, while keeping high velocity. It helps keep the fuel misting creating a better combustion
