Default Helms scanned & posted HERE! 30k service help!! 56k unfriendly!

Here is the service schedule for the 98 Civic under severe conditions:

How come on the page below you have to remove the drain bolt in step 4? Why can't you just unscrew the drain plug as shown in step 3? If I do need to remove the drain bolt in step 4, is that the oil filter next to the bolt?

Since I am going to replace the transmission fluid can I jump to step 3 or do I have to remove the oil filler plug shown in step 1?
My next Q: where the hell are these 2 plugs located? How the hell do you add the transmission fluid back? Can't be through the filler plug since it looks to be going into the side of the engine???

Hopefully, this will help a lot of us out and save you all some $$.
I may start scanning more and posting other things from the book. If you have any requests PM me and I'll see what I can do!

to fill the tranny you attach a tube to a funnel and put it in that hole.

Come on man, it shows the pics right there. You have to remove the plug from the block next to the oil filter to drain the coolant from the block. You have to do this if you want to completely flush all of the old coolant. You have to remove the tranny oil filler plug when you drain, otherwise it won't drain out very smoothly. The stream will go all over the place as it drains because you have to let air into the tranny as the fluid drains. Both plugs are shown right there in the pic below the steps.
