Default Please help me with my '06 Accord purchase!

Hi Guys!

Well, to date, I have been an avid Integra fan but the time has come for me to move on to another car.

I just sold my '01 gsr and am pretty set on investing in a '06 Accord ex v6 auto as it is most likely the best car for my budget/liking right now. I have been doing my research and have been looking at various accords and have to say that these are really amazing cars

I am currently talking to a dealer that has a honda certified '06 ex v6 coupe with only 2000 miles + existing warranty. The car is going for $22,988 and they aren't budging one bit, saying that this is the absolute best they can do and that they are already down $21,500 for even taking this car on and putting it on their lot. The carfax checks out great and I've looked up the KBB and Edmunds value and they both come up around $25.5 - $26k for a similar certified model. Plus, most similar accords with already 20k+ mileage are coming up for the same price. I probably sound a bit over-concerned but as a first time dealership buyer I just don't want to be ripped off. Just to note, I am in the San Francisco bay area.

Even though I'd love a brand new 07 coupe they are most likely not in my price range right now. (Most of the dealerships around my area are stickering these at around $29k and up!

This is a picture of the car...but it doesn't really do it justice: http://images.cars.com/supersi...0.jpg

If you guys could give me your opinion on whether or not this is a good buy or if I'm just being cheap. I would greatly appreciate it and thanks for your help!

-George

Well the good part of the deal is the fact that someone else has eaten the initial depreciation.
If the carfax looked good and the warranty is still in effect, thats well and good.
The 'Certified' used car system that honda uses gives you some protection as well.
I'm not sure of the length of time on that, but the Certified check list is supposed to be in the glove box, or you can ask for a copy.
The 03 and up transmissions seem to be pretty tough units.
The bottom line though is that it's your money and your choice.
If I was that filthy rich to be able to get a car like that I'd go for it.

Great car! I just bought a 2006 EX-L V6 Sedan 6-Speed new from the dealership in September. All of the 2007s were on the lot, so they wanted to sell it. Sticker was $28,900, they sold it for $24,500. It had 198 miles on it. It drives superb! This is my 5th Honda and my first brand new car from a dealership. I have no complaints whatsever and comparatively speaking, yours sounds like a great deal, too. My 4th Honda was Certified Pre-Owned from this same dealer. All I have to say is, if they offer to extend the factory warranty, take it! I did, and it ended up being well worth it.

Thanks for all your posts guys, I appreciate the help! I'm not sure of Honda's production numbers but just by observing the availability in my area it makes it seem like either Honda really limited production of the 6speeds or that people are just grabbing them up like hotcakes.

Quick question though, is the difference between manual and automatic a lot for these model accords? I mean, I definitely understand the fun factor and of course more control over the car in general but is the difference in performance/drivability that much different in comparison?

Thanks!

They are hard as hell to find, people buy them ASAP. But they made like 25 Automatics per each 6 spd. I read a stat like that somewhere, it might be even more than that. Not quite sure.

It's not just that it's a six speed. There are a lot of other little differences like spring rates, suspension bushings and such.

A 2006 six speed is really a tight little car.

Only things I'd change:

-Find a TL-S Torsen axle
-Find a TL-S rear sway bar
-HFP Suspension
