Default b16 no vtec safe?

me and a few buddies did a jdm b16 swap in my 94 del sol, but we kind of got stuck when it came to wiring vtec so we just didnt do it and we have an appointment for a shop to do it but its in a week. Is it safe to drive without the vtec hooked up or could i screw something up?

i think its safe. my buddy did the same swap but in a CRX and he didnt have vtec wired for a couple of days and it still ran cool. just i would stay outta the higher RPM's you know just to be safe.

my boy has a b16a2 in his crx and it makes a weird noise between 5 and 7 grand kinda like its bouncing off the rev limiter but it isnt... any one kno wha can be the problem. It never done that before we thought maybe cause vtec is not connected

theres something wrong there.

after everyone told me it wouldnt hurt my motor, i took it up to 8200 rpms and it ran like a beauty. cant wait until i get vtec all hooked up.

You should be fine. I have done several swaps and I know there is info on VTEC wiring on hondatech good luck. I would like to see some picture of the finished product.

you should be fine just dont go into vtec. why not wire it up yourself it is pretty easy. vtec solenoid goes to A4, vtec oil pressure switch to D6 and the black wire on the vtec oil pressure just put to good ground

its fine to drive around w/o vtec. just keep it below the crossover point. the "lo-cam" wont make power at higher rpm
