Default Suggestions on first tig welder

Im just seeing what you guys would suggest for my first tig welder. I bought a cheepo mig awhile ago and am pretty sure i made the wrong purchase. So now im lookin to get into tig welding so i can start making my own stuff for my car. Ive been lookin around and seeing most starter stuff being in the $1200 range which is alittle high for me right now but i dont wanna start wiht a HF style one wiht no foot control. I would like something i can learn correctly on and use for a good long while. Any input would be great like brand model price. thank u in advance

Just keep in mind, supplies will cost around $500, and make sure you are wired for what ever welder you get because that will cost you there.

An old syncrowave, or a used TA185 inverter machine if you can afford it.
