is that true, if my car gets stolen, i can recover it back the next day because of this so-called gps tracking? is this true? i am very curious.

Are you talking about a stock system or an aftermarket system? Because your car shouldn't have stock GPS tracking.

Most GPS tracking systems are far from fool-proof and have a rather low rate of recovery for how hyped they are. There are many ways to kill a GPS signal.

 

I've heard of the units being put in common places on the chassis, making them easy to find. I've also heard the chassis can be shocked to kill the GPS unit.

 

Regardless of the merits or drawbacks of GPS-linked security systems, a stock Si (even one equipped with the OEM alarm) doesn't have one.

Not necessarily. He seems to think that if he did have GPS tracking, he would magically have it back the next day. That's a more sickening untruth than him thinking his car had the tracking device in the first place.

Anyways. I'm kinda interested as well. I just put a lot of money into my car with the b20vtec setup, and trying to find the best way to protect it. I was going to get lojack, but it sounds like they're not the best idea? Theft isnt a huge issue (knock on wood) where I live, but I still want to be protected.

I have a fuel cut off, but I dont think this is enough. In mine and blackb16209 best interest, what would be the best protection available. And please dont say a garage.

Dealerships are some of the few places to get Lo-Jack installed. If his car had Lo-Jack installed as a factory option when it came to the place he bought it, then it could very well come with a GPS tracking device. It shouldn't, but it might.

how doesnt it work correctly? almost all of the police cars in my county have a lojack scanner. i know this because i do ride alongs with CHP's and local law enforcement

The LoJack signal is good for a limited area. I've heard the range is about 40 miles (LoJack's site does not seem to state the distance). This helps for some cases, but not all.

And of course it won't mean that the car won't be stolen or that it won't have items removed from it or even be stripped. And in order for it to be found it has to of course be reported in order to first start tracking it.

Say when my car was stolen... between 11:45pm and 6:00am. We woke up to find it gone. Plenty of time for my car to be very very far away. Lucky for me it was dumped in the next town over. The police had been called to an "abandoned vehicle" hours before I even knew the car was gone.

I read earlier in an article about both LoJack and OnStar that the signal will continue for two days. I'm not sure if that was referring to one system or the other or both though. It did not specify.

 

i just call him. he said founded=no motor,no more 5 lug,no interior, they did cover the hole car whit oil.what a lost.chicago it's getting 2 hard to keep a nice car out.

 

why they cover the whole car with oil???

 

so the police won't find any finger print's. they did not turn the car whit a special key or something,they broke the switch and turn on the car whit a screwdriver, and they left the computer in the car.
