Wrong Spark Plugs???!?!
I just changed out my spark plugs with some NGKs....I got some Civic Si ones cuz they ran out for GSR or type R. My friend told me that Civic Si ones are the same. But now i got a check engine light.... Okay guys..
MY question is are they the same?! if no are gsr same with the type r????

nope...they're not the same at all. one important detail is the gap and level of the plug...the ITR's is very specific!!! wise bet is to exchange them for the right ones...most likely will solve your problem
stick with the ngk platinums though...don't get persuaded by all the iridium hype.

then i dunno, since the service manual from honda said the spark plug for sohc and dohc have the same gap 1.1mm, so i assume all the honda should have the same gap

What is the code? Are you sure you didnt mix up the wires?

the owner's manual is a bit misleading on Civics, cause the the SOHC's use 1.1mm copper plugs that you gap yourself, so the manual lists the gap at 1.1mm. It doesn't list the gap for DOHC 1.6 vtec cause they assume you are using factory plat. plug which comes pre-gapped at 1.3mm and don't assume to be changed for 100,000 miles., so they don't really get into the DOHC gap info very clearly. But the GSR and Civic SiR both use 1.3mm gaps, looks like the ITR uses 1.1mm probably due to higher compression levels. I wouldn't think the gap difference would trigger a code as I have played with different gaps on the dyno and street and never tripped any codes regardless of how drastic the change was.
I'm kinda having the same problem, i've been throwing the same codes recently (71,72) but still haven't figured it out.
First I was getting code 72, changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor at only 17k miles and everything was fine, for at least a day.
Now i'm getting code 71. I can't figure this out, This is driving me crazy.
I took it to the dealer with the first code and they couldn't figure it out,now i'm going to try another dealer and pray.
If you have any luck with a fix, let me know

... It might cause misfiring or detonation, niether of which throw codes.
Actually 71,72,73, 74 is misfire codes.
