Here is the problem, I have a 88 DX Crx with a B18a swap that was never finished. The underdash harness was hacked up badly! I have the chance to buy a matching 89 SI underdash and engine harness to reolace my damaged underdash and to convert totally to SI. Will the 89 si harness work in my 88dx or is the 88 just the oddball year. I know the 90-91 wont work. I have searched and any help is appreciated!

I would also try to get the underdash fusebox and possibly cluster to?? Since your going to be replacing everything anyways right? Then youll know that your good to go

 

Yeah I am getting everything but I wanted to know if the plugs going to the back of the car for the taillights and fuel pump and so on match up?

 

I've heard the 88 is totally different (I have an 88 and spent a long time getting a new front end chassis/underdash harness and have JUST aquired one) I don't know for sure though. The 88 has alot of unique things to it and I would be suprised if the harness wasen't different.

 

Dude ive noticed every year has some little difference in wiring even models, i used a hatchback 89 harness in my 91 sedan, i had to cut plugs and match up wires to the original plugs, and had like 4 extra dangling around, Id be safer and just get exact model.

 

Really so its better to just go with an 88!

Well its allways best to get one from a car thats as close to the same as yours as possible (options etc change what wires you get) so if you can't find the right harness you could probably make it work (as La-Quiete is saying) but if its exactly the same (an 88 CRX DX) it could plug right in without a single issue. I say could because theres allways the finite chance there will still be somthing different between the two cars lol...
