My 98 GSR was stolen for a night last week in the South Bay Area, CA. They took the stock "blades", cd player and valve cover (as far as I know), I had to leave for school the night I got it back so I only got to look it over for a few minutes in the dark. I'm not sure if anything else is missing from the motor... If you guys could take a look at the pic and point out anything else out that you notice missing that would be awesome. I've been looking for a valve cover online but can't find a new one. Probably go to a junk yard for one.

Another thing, I didn't have an alarm system, I've had the car for 6+ years. Now I'm kinda convinced. What recomendations do you guys have? I'm trying to spend as little as I can to put my car back together because I'm a broke college student and I only need it another year until I graduate.

Wheres the best place to get a set of wheels and tires for cheap? (in the bay area, or online)

 

People are always selling valvecovers/wheels/basically the stuff you need in the H-T marketplace, try looking there. You should really think about investing in some sort of security because you're lucky they didn't strip everything from it.

 

Yeah... I was really surprised that the thing still had its motor when I picked it up! I thought it would be stripped clean.

 

you got lucky, you got jacked by the stupid thieves. smart ones (well none are smart) woulda cleaned you out, engine, seats, interior, bumpers

go to discount tires direct if you need some steelies and tires fast, they should ab able to hook you up with all enw stuff for 350 400 shipped

 

looks to me only the VC was stolen those are a dime a dozen. consider yourself very very lucky. my entire motor, tranny seats dash carpet brke booster, cluster, ecu + got stolen. very very lucky

you are EXTREMELY lucky! where im from most people take everything. a friend of mine got his stolen and the only thing left was the frame and they lit it on fire. it was a 98 gsr by the way. any alarm is better than no alarm. i would recommend Compustar or DEI's 2 way paging alarm. (DEI python990). this is good so when the alarm is set off, you will know. REMEMBER, if they want your car they will get it no matter what. i would also recommend a back up battery to go with the alarm, maybe an audio sensor when your window breaks. if you can, maybe a lil expensive get lowjack installed. hope that helps.

 

the spark plug wires are missing, but you probably already knew that.

 

An alarm by itself is still crap, unless you're willing to do the install yourself. You'll need layers of security.

Anyways, without security, this was expected. I guess you could consider this a warning.

 

I am 50/50 with this guy. But the warning is straight up your alley^^^^^^^^^^^^^

yea... jail for what.. 2 days max? thats all thieves now days really get... hmmm *day dreaming of the day thieves get their hands chopped off in america*
